The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences invites applications for the position
Full Professor (W3) for
“Nutritional Crop Physiology”.
The major research topics of the applicant should cover the nutritional physiology of crops including biotechnological, molecular and
eco-physiological aspects. Interdisciplinary cooperation for the development of innovative plant production systems is expected. The applicant should also contribute to the interdisciplinary research centres
of the university. In close cooperation with the professor for “Fertilisation with Soil Chemistry”, he/she will be teaching Plant Nutrition to its
full extent both in German and English spoken courses.
Habilitation or other comparable scientific qualification as well as
educational aptitude are necessary to warrant appointment as full
professor.
The University attempts to increase the number of female scientists and
strongly encourages women to apply.
The advertised position is tenured. If appointed as professor for the first
time, the university reserves its right to a probationary employment. In
case of identical qualifications, severely disabled persons are preferred.
Applications including curriculum vitae, documentation of academic
achievements and teaching experience, and a list of publications are to
be sent to the address below by 15 September, 2009.

Plant Physiology Among
100 Most Influential Journals
of the Century!
®
Plant Physiology has been named one of the 100 most inÀuential journals in
biology or medicine of the past 100 years! To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the
Special Libraries Association, SLA’s BioMedical & Life
Sciences Division conducted a poll of its membership to
identify which journals have been the most inÀuential.
Plant Physiology is one of only three journals from the
“Experimental Botany, Plant Physiology & Related Molecular/Cellular Plant
Biology” category to make the list. Other journals listed in the top 100 include such prestigious titles as Science,
Nature, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The American Society of Plant Biologists and Plant
Physiology are proud to have received this honor. A full list of the top 100 journals can be found at http://units.sla.org/

CALL FOR PAPERS
Plant Physiology Focus Issue
on Plant Systems Biology
®
Deadline for Submissions: October 1, 2009
To submit an article, please go to http://submit.plantphysiol.org.
Plant Physiology is pleased to announce a Focus Issue on Plant Systems Biology to be
published in February 2010. The issue will be edited by Jacques Joyard and Sheila
McCormick. It will focus on many different aspects of plant science, ranging from
collections of physiological data with quantified molecular parts lists (e.g., genes,
expression levels, localizations) to abstract mathematical modeling of biological
processes. This new Focus Issue aims to provide an update on the progress made in
this field. Research articles that provide mechanistic insight into the regulation and
function of complex systems in diverse areas of plant biology and/or interactions of
plants with other organisms will be considered.
Authors interested in contributing should indicate this in their cover letter when
submitting papers online at http://submit.plantphysiol.org/. Please select “Plant
Systems Biology (February 2010)” from the Focus Issue list in the online submission
system. Articles published within 2 years before and after the Focus Issue will be
considered for inclusion in an online Focus Collection of articles relevant to the
focus topic (see http://www.plantphysiol.org/cgi/content/full/142/2/379 for an
editorial about Focus Collections).
Please contact Jacques Joyard ([email protected]) or
Sheila McCormick ([email protected]) for additional
information.

T
he American Society of Plant Biologists has published The Arabidopsis Book (TAB) as a free online
compendium since 2002. ASPB is providing funds
for the production of TAB as a public service.
Founded by Chris Somerville and Elliot Meyerowitz, TAB now
has more than 60 chapters online and receives nearly 100,000
full-text downloads every year.
The current editorial board is working hard to continue TAB’s
ongoing expansion:
Rob Last (chair), Michigan State University
Caren Chang, University of Maryland
Ian Graham, University of York
Georg Jander, Boyce Thompson Institute
Dan Kliebenstein, University of California, Davis
Ottoline Leyser, University of York
Rob McClung, Dartmouth College
Harvey Millar, University of Western Australia
The board is overseeing all new content development
as well as updates to existing chapters to keep TAB
the most comprehensive and current work
on Arabidopsis.
