SFS-5-2015: Strategies for crop productivity, stability
and quality
Proposed Project Description:
The overarching goals of the proposed project is developing crop
plants displaying delayed aging and resistance to environmental
stresses.
Regulated synthesis of cytokinins delays plant senescence and
prolong shelf life of vegetables.
Regulated synthesis of cytokinins in plants under stress conditions
confers increased drought tolerance in model plants.
By designing the appropriate regulation of cytokinins synthesis
under different abiotic stresses, it may be feasible to develop crop
plants exhibiting delayed aging, prolonged shelf life and tolerant to
various abiotic stresses.
