INTRODUCTION
Cam McKellar, Nuffield scholar and award winning farmer ( National Carbon Cocky
Award for Outstanding Leadership and the A & K Hill “Greening Australia” Award) has
developed “Rothesay” along his biological grass farming principles.
His aim was to produce low input—high output beef and has achieved this.
Cam was one of 19 case studies Australia wide in the “Soils for Life Initiative”
inaugurated by the past Governor General Michael Jeffery.
His priorities were fencing, water and yards to enhance his grass farming principles of
100% groundcover 100% of the time.
All fences fronting public roads have been renewed (4 barb 1 hot wire). The majority of
internal fencing is all new and forms many smaller paddocks for cattle movement. All
these paddocks are centralised around 33 troughs.
Water is abundant on “Rothesay” and the owner believes it is drought proof. To
achieve this he has added 3 large solar operated wells , 1 already existing equipped
well and 1 high yielding electric submersible bore adjacent to house. This also provides
abundant water for the well established landscaped gardens and pool.
New blue-line poly pipe has been used throughout and troughs are equipped with high
volume floats, these are all equipped with taps so can be turned off when not in use.
The water is of excellent quality and very drinkable.
“Rothesay” comes with a magnificent set of new M & M 350 hd cattle yards. Prior to
erection hundreds of tons of gravel was put down as a base for yards with B Double
all-weather access from loading ramp to the main road. The yards include undercover
vet crush with weighing system, all concreted and can be cleaned out with high
pressure hose in yards.
The quality soil of “Rothesay” at above 4.5% organic matter teams with worms and soil
biotia which has turned it into one big sponge that holds all of its reliable rainfall in the
softer climate of the southern Liverpool Plains.
With the above infrastructure and improvements combined with its quality soil and
outstanding location it is our pleasure to offer this quality beef producing property.

PRODUCTION HISTORY
“Rothesay” has been run as a time controlled/rotational grazing operation. In recent
years it has been used as a cow fattening property purchasing store cows from
throughout NSW QLD and NT.
Prior to its development as a controlled grazing property it was a cow and calf operation
growing progeny out to feedlot weights. The Vendor Cam McKellar has always had the
soils best interest at heart . Through biological farming practices he has been able to
develop 100% ground cover and utilise the improved native pasture including clovers,
medics, introduced legumes and a variety of grasses and herbages and forbs.
Transfer of these quality pastures on the property have been achieved through seed
distribution and grazing management .
The property comes with 70 hectares of winter cereal and 30 hectares of temperate
pasture. The opportunity for timely pasture cropping is available.
