STRINGPAD : WORLD'S FIRST MOTION SIMULATION HEADSET FOR GAMERS
by EDITORIAL HIFI.NL | 20 MARCH 2017 | PHOTOGRAPHY MANUFACTURER
More noteworthy news on Kickstarter, this time from Belgium. Later today StringPad
launches a crowdfunding campaign. StringPad, a haptic-tactile headphone for gamers
simulates movement so that you can actually "feel" the digital world.
" Immersive technology "is the new focus for developers of video games, especially now that
more and more virtual reality devices come to market." thus Patrick Villas and Jean-Pierre
Geelen. The two designers are the engine behind a Belgian start-up who wants to bring their
latest innovation to market through Kickstarter. "We believe that this development is still in
its infancy, and that virtual reality will dominate the market completely in the very near
future. We therefor developed a haptic-tactile motion simulating headset allowing gamers to
'feel' the digital world, you hear and feel every sound, every movement around you in the
game. "
Haptic tactile? Haptic-tactile feedback is the use of advanced vibration patterns and waves to
transmit information to a user or operator. The word "haptic" is derived from the Greek word
'haptikos' meaning 'touch'. StringPad technology combines for this purpose dynamic speakers
with a pair of built-in bone conductors, components which transmit sound vibrations through
bone conduction to the inner ear. A specially designed two-ways amplifier amplifies each
signal separately: one for audio and one for the vibrations, so that both signals are also
controllable separately.
"When you shoot your way through your favorite FPS, it's much more intense when every
shot from your gun feels like a vibration against your skull!" The StringPad works with a
standard 3.5 mm audio jack output and is compatible with nearly all devices, such as TVs,
tablets, smartphones, VR devices and game consoles. The haptic-tactile feedback StringPad
permits the user to experience the action scenes in movies, to listen to music or play games
with an unprecedented realism to make your heart beat faster. The project is largely aimed at
gamers, but you can't help but ask yourself what the possibilities are in electronics. Or do you
prefer John Bonham, Keith Moon or Taylor Hawkins not to play drums directly against your
head? The recommended retail price after Kickstarter will be € 275, - / $ 292, - for a
StringPad Classic set (headphone, amplifier and accessories), the Kickstarter campaign offers
solid discounts.STRINGPAD : WORLD'S FIRST MOTION SIMULATION HEADSET FOR
