Your “Ecological Footprint” is affected by things as small as a printer cartridge or even the plastic water
bottle(s) you may use each day. Not only can these items lead to increased landfill use if they’re not recycled,
but they also use a huge amount of oil to produce. Please list FIVE things that your family can do (and will try
to do) to decrease your family’s Ecological Footprint. (+3 pts on TEST)

LITTER is a really big problem everywhere, even in our beautiful town of Charleston! Next month, we’re teaming up with the
Town of James Island to launch a “Keep James Island Beautiful” awareness campaign. The art department at JICHS is
currently conducting a t-shirt design contest for the event. Clubs and Athletic Teams are sponsoring sections of roadway to
cleanup one Saturday in March. Hopefully, you and your student will join us for the big event! Even more important though,
is educating the public about litter in general. Please discuss with your child and come up with a few ideas of ways you
think we could get people in the community more involved and try to make our community a cleaner place in the
future…then we wouldn’t need to go cleaning up the roadways…in a perfect world… 
