Willow Tree
Week of Sept. 12, 2016
Main Office Phone: 442-‐232-‐2900
Dear Families,
Thank you wonderful families for an incredible
first week at Willow Tree! It was exciting to see how
much we have grown in just a year! Thank you to all
the parents, grandparents, and family members who
helped say our First Day poem and create a bridge to
send the kids on their way to class. This coming
together is very important in helping to establish the
feeling of community that we cherish. We are all in
this together to help give our children the best
education possible. I am very excited to watch all of
your children flourish and grow this year.
I am so grateful also to the families who came out
on Saturday to start the process of building our
garden. We do need more help in order to complete
the keyhole beds! We will be working THIS Saturday
again, please come and help us!!
Please look for a newsletter from me every week
and from the teachers every 2 weeks on the 2nd and
4th Monday (or first day of the week) of each month.
These newsletters are the best way to stay informed
about what is happening here at Willow Tree. We will
send home a paper version in your child’s folder, post
on your class Facebook page, and put it on our new
Parent Portal on the website. Please visit our website
and register for the Parent Portal so you can access
this information.
This week, we will begin our Specialty Classes. We
are excited to bring in a few new things this year to
our 4th and 5th graders. They will have the
opportunity to do woodworking and strings. Our
violin teacher will be coming to Back to School Night
in order to let parents know what they will need for
their violin classes.
Just a few reminders:
• Please have your child keep their backpack with
them in the mornings (or place it on their line).
• Please make sure your child does not walk
through the parking lot alone. We will be roping
off the field each morning and afternoon in
order to help give more spaces to park.
I hope you all have a lovely week!!
Warmly,
Mrs. Chaffin

CSA Begins on Wednesday
This year’s CSA will look a lot like a farmer’s
market. Solidarity Farms will be setting up a
stand every Wednesday where you can pick
out the fruit, veggies, and other tasty treats
each week. If you haven’t had a chance to
taste their wonderful food - bring your
check book or cash on Wednesday so that
you can experience all that they have to
offer.
We truly appreciate that Solidarity Farms
will be donating back a portion of the
proceeds to Friends of Willow Tree!
