2016 Summer Basketball League
Team Registration Info Sheet
Saco Parks & Recreation will be offering again a summer
basketball league! Join us as we continue this tradition
in Southern Maine!
We are now taking registrations for teams from
all over Southern Maine. Teams should be made up of
players from one town or towns that generally share
resources for basketball. Games will be played in gyms
in and around Saco, Portland, and Auburn.
This is a more competitive-level league. Players participating
in this league should have at minimum one year experience at
the recreation-level or higher as this is not an introductory
program. Playing time will be balanced with an emphasis placed
on further developing basketball skills and good sportsmanship.
Program Details
Who: The SPR Summer Basketball League will host teams in both boys and girls divisions. Teams will be
broken up by the following grades: 2nd & 3rd grades, 4th & 5th grades, 6th & 7th grades, 8th & 9th
grades, and an Open High School division. All grades determined as of Fall 2016.
Season: The SPR Summer League will offer a game each week from mid-June to mid-August. There may be
opportunities to play some North/South games with other leagues in August. The season will end with a
weekend single elimination playoff.
Games and Practices: All games will be during the week Monday –Thursday with some Fridays used for
over flow. Once teams are determined, we will try to establish a consistent night for each division. Planning
of all team practices, including locations and other details, are the responsibility of the team manager.
Practice locations will not be provided.
Team Registration Fee All Divisions: $400.00
 That’s as low as $40.00 per person for the whole summer for a team of ten players!
 Teams in the league will receive a league t-shirt that must be worn for games.
 Entry fees for games are $1.00/children ages 12 and under and $2.00/adults
Registration: May 1st, 2015 through June 3rd, 2016
Step one: The team manager or coach must create an account at www.sacorec.com and register for the SPR
Summer League Team Activity. You will be asked for the team fee payment and team name to register.
Step two: Submit our SPR Summer League Team Roster form which is available to download online.
Our website will have the leagues schedule as well as standings.
Referees: Games will be refereed by board officials. One per game during the regular season and two for
playoffs.
