The packaging films used in the BEUMER
stretch hood® process have many good
properties. The required elongation and
the biaxial tension forces can be optimally
adapted by the film manufacturer to each
single product and to the respective operating conditions. In this regard, the close
cooperation between BEUMER and the
film manufacturers has a particularly
positive effect on the development. The
connection between the water-proof film
and the pallet, the so-called understretch,
ensures the stability of the load, the safe
transport from the producer to the final
customer and the outdoor storage cap­
abilities.

1. Spreading of the film hood and transfer to the
crimping device
2. Regular crimping of the hood; welding and lengthening to a particular size which has been determined by previous sensing of the stack height
3. Stretching of the hood; the degree of stretch is
defined by the stack dimensions, film elasticity
and film gusset measurements
4. Lowering of the crimping and stretching unit and
simultaneous stretching of the film in vertical
direction: “biaxial stretch”
On the basis of already proven elem­

which features more efficiency, flexibility, productivity, and simplicity of

OptiStretch®, which prevents possible
film tears and improves the uncoiling
behaviour, is part of the large variety of
innovations.
Not only is the time required for film replacement reduced to 2 minutes with the
BEUMER stretch hood®i , thus increasing
productivity, film consumption is also reduced thanks to the increased spectrum
of film thickness. The flexibility of the

the operator’s convenience. Operation,
film replacement and maintenance are
carried out only from one machine side,

reduced, eliminating need of a fork lift;
a manual hoist cart is sufficient.
