The Calgary Stampede is a volunteer-supported, not-for-profit community organization that preserves
and celebrates our western heritage, cultures and community spirit. With a core staff of 1,200
employees, the Stampede runs a variety of community programs and hosts more than 1,000 events
throughout year.

The annual Calgary Stampede hires approximately 3,500 employees on a seasonal and part time basis.

increase depending on the role requirements, certification, and shift schedule.
Park Maintenance
The Park Maintenance department pride themselves in maintaining cleanliness and park beautification
for the enjoyment of our guests. Many individuals work in this department in a variety of shifts in order
to ensure Stampede Park is looking its best!
Roles in this area include:
Gardener: Create an exceptional guest experience by maintaining the Park gardens by preforming
gardening services including planting, weeding, bed maintenance and water truck operating. This
position requires you to be outside and standing or walking for long periods of time.
Gardening Lawn Care: Create an exceptional guest experience by maintaining the Park greenspaces
through the performance of lawn care services, including mowing, whipping, and general cleanup of turf.
This position requires you to be outside and standing or walking for long periods of time.
Labourer: Create an exceptional guest experience by maintaining and preparing the Park for various
events including garbage collection, moving furniture, assisting tradesmen and operating forklifts. In
addition to these tasks, some night shift roles may include additional tasks including recycling collection
and evening Park cleanup.
Park Beautification: Create an exceptional guest experience by maintaining the appearance of Park by
preforming beautification services including sweeping, cleaning dumpster areas, directing recycling and
collecting compost from vendors. This position requires you to be outside and standing or walking for
long periods of time.
Emergency “Strike Team”: Create an exceptional guest experience by maintaining the appearance of
Park by preforming emergency cleanup activities including the collection of hazardous waste, garbage
collection and general clean up. This position requires you to be outside, and standing or walking for
long periods of time.

Indian Village Beautification: Create an exceptional guest experience by maintaining the appearance of
Park by performing beautification services including general garbage collection, washroom cleaning,
general Park clean up. This position requires you to be outside and standing or walking for long periods
of time.
Parking
Stampede Park is always busy when it comes to parking. The parking department is in charge of
welcoming our guests and ensuring a friendly and efficient parking experience. Many of these roles are
Guest Ambassadors, which means you will ensure all guests, volunteers and employees have an
exceptional experience while performing specific duties in certain areas.
Roles in this area include:
Guest Ambassador: Create an exceptional guest experience by welcoming our guests while checking
each vehicle for the proper parking pass and directing traffic in a safe and friendly manner. This position
requires you to be outside and standing or walking for long periods of time. Some employees in this
position may be required to demonstrate exceptional cash handling skills while assisting patrons in
obtaining public parking.
Golf Cart Operator: Create an exceptional guest experience and follow all traffic regulations in a safe
manner while assisting patrons in getting around Stampede Park. A full Class 5 Drivers License is
required and due to the nature of this position, candidates need to be over 18 years of age. Employees
will be asked to provide a Drivers Abstract.
Shuttle Drivers: Create an exceptional guest experience and follow all traffic regulations in a safe
manner while assisting patrons in getting around Stampede Park. Full Class 2 Drivers License required,
and due to the nature of this position, candidates need to be over 18 years of age. Employees will be
asked to provide a Drivers Abstract.
Programming
We produce and host a variety of events and shows throughout Stampede while offering unique and
varied experiences for visitors. As part of the programming department you will greet and interact with
guests of all ages from all over the world and provide them with an exceptional experience. Many of
these roles are Guest Ambassadors, which means you will ensure all guests, volunteers and employees
have an exceptional experience while performing specific duties in certain areas.
Roles in this area include:
Guest Ambassador:

Create an exceptional experience for all of our guests throughout Stampede Park by assisting
with any questions they may have and to directing them where they need to go within the Park.

Create an exceptional experience to all guests arriving and departing Stampede Park. An
individual in this role is positioned at the entrance gate and welcomes every guest as well as
says farewell and thank-you to the guests coming in and out of Park. Some employees in this
position may be required to use a cash register to process payments and have strong math skills
in order to make change for guests.

Create an exceptional experience by assisting guests to find their seats at the different venues
and shows throughout Stampede and answer any questions the guest may have.

Create an exceptional experience for both parents and children visiting the Buckaroos and Play
Port area by answering questions, greeting people and supervising children.

Create an exceptional experience for all guests within the BMO Kids’ Zone by operating the
family-focused activities and games.
Lost Kids Tagger (18+): Provide exceptional guest experience and support. The lost kid’s tagger works
in the lost kid’s trailer and helps to tag any children that are participating in the lost kids program. Due
to the nature of this position, employees must be over 18 years of age.
Venue Services
The Calgary Stampede wants to help all Calgarians and southern Albertans celebrate in true western style!
Whether an event is taking place in the Grandstand or the BMO Centre, the Venue Services team ensures that
our spaces are in excellent condition for our guests’ enjoyment. Venue Services is responsible for ensuring
facility cleanliness, sanitation and overall appearance during all hours of the day.
The following are some of the roles that the Venue Services department has to offer:
Cleaning (Building Attendant 1): Create an exceptional guest experience through maintaining the
appearance of Calgary Stampede venues by performing housekeeping/janitorial services, including
garbage removal, floor care and washroom cleaning. This position has varying shifts that are available.
Security
The Calgary Stampede works hard to ensure that all guests who visit Stampede Park are safe while
providing exceptional guest experience. Our Calgary Stampede security department is operational 24
hours a day to ensure that our guests have the best and safest experience possible. Many of these roles
are Guest Ambassadors, which means you will ensure all guests, volunteers and employees have an
exceptional experience while performing specific duties in certain areas.
For all Security positions employees must have;
 High level of physical stamina, these positions require long periods of standing and there are
numerous stairs to climb
 Strong English language and communication skills required
 Excellent customer service, people skills and have an outgoing personality
Roles in this area include:
Guest Ambassador: Create an exceptional guest experience by providing information to our guests
regarding events and venues on Stampede Park.
Bar Security (18+): Create an exceptional guest experience by ensuring a safe environment for our
guestswhile managing crowds and venue capacities. Bar Security may also be required to provide
information to guests regarding events and venues on Stampede Park. Candidates are expected to
uphold AGLC (Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission) regulations. This position requires employees to
have ProServe/ProTect.
Security Guard (18+): Create an exceptional guest experience by ensuring a safe environment for our
guests while managing crowds. Security Guards may be required to provide information to guests
regarding events and facilities on Stampede Park. This position requires employees to have Alberta
Security License. (ProServe/Protect would be an asset.)

Food and Beverage Positions
Food and Beverage can be seen during our Stampede celebration in a variety of areas including
concessions, premium seating and restaurants, kitchens, catering, and various bar establishments
across Park.
Roles in this area include:
*Needs ProServe
#Needs AHS
#Line Cook: Create an exceptional guest experience as a cook who works behind the “line” in a
restaurant (the barrier between servers and cooks). Employees will work in tandem with the rest of the
line cooks and are in charge of a specific section (for example, salads).
#Food Preparation (Prep Cook): Create an exceptional guest experience by putting the food together
just before it is sold. In some areas, they are making and wrapping sandwiches whereas in other areas
they are plating the dish before it goes out into the restaurant for the guest.
#Short Order Cook: Create an exceptional guest experience as a cook who prepares fast food (burgers,
chicken fingers, fries, etc.). Must have experience in a fast food restaurant or similar.
Wait staff: Create an exceptional guest experience during our catered events in one of our many
locations on Stampede Park. Common duties include: welcoming guests, setting tables and buffets,
clearing plates and glassware, and responding to requests from guests. Employees must be willing to
carry an oval tray for service on most events.
Bartender (Non-mix): Create an exceptional guest experience while working as a bartender during our
catered events in one of our many locations on Stampede Park. Clients will usually purchase drink
tickets and redeem at the bar. No cash handling most of the time. Bartenders in this department
cannot solicit for tips but are remunerated through a gratuity pool and hourly wage.
Dishwasher: Create an exceptional guest experience by washing dishes, organizing glassware, and
helping the chefs in whatever capacity needed. This position requires employees to be standing for long
periods of time.
Money Runner: Create an exceptional guest experience by supporting the success of your team in a fast
paced, walking position that provides change for bartenders and Concession Stands. Employees need to
have good math skills and be able to work in a high paced environment. Due to the nature of this
position, employees must be over 18 years of age.
Food Vendor: Create an exceptional guest experience by interacting with our guests while selling
popcorn, cotton candy and other snacks throughout the Grandstand during the rodeo events.
Employees need to be outgoing and have good mental math skills in order to make change for guests
*Beer Vendor (18+): Create an exceptional guest experience by selling beer throughout the Grandstand
during the rodeo events. Due to the nature of this position, employees must be over 18 years of age.
Vendor Filler: Create an exceptional guest experience as a backup Food Vendor and restock the Food
Vendors with their product as needed. This is a fast paced position.

Recycling/Maintenance: Create an exceptional guest experience while collecting all of the recycling from
each recycle bin throughout the Grandstand, change both the garbage and recycling bags. This
employee must be responsible and safety conscious that they may operate a crushing machine (to crush
cans).
Busser/Bus Person: Create an exceptional guest experience by cleaning the tables of our guests. This
position involves picking up cans and debris, wiping down tables, counters and eating areas as required,
as well as, empting garbage and recycle bins. Employees are expected to provide constant table and
side stand maintenance throughout shift.
*Liquor Controller: Create an exceptional guest experience by ensuring that the Alberta Gaming and
Liquor Commission standards are being met. Employees will make sure that the right precautions are
being taken so that no underage drinking or over-serving occurs, and those guests are not leaving
authorized areas with alcohol.
Liquor Stock/Stock Person (18+): Create an exceptional guest experience by taking direction from the
bartender or manager of their venue on how much liquor/product they need to transport from the
warehouse to the venue and into the bar itself. Some stock people are purely warehouse positions
(driving forklifts to stock and organize large quantities of liquor) while others work purely with
bartenders (doing bar set up, cleaning glassware etc.).
Bar Porter (18+): Create an exceptional guest experience while working directly with the bartenders in a
restaurant. Employees ensure the bars are stocked, clean and ready for the bartenders. Due to the
nature of this position, employees must be over 18 years of age.
#Food Stock/Stock Person (18+): Create an exceptional guest experience, similar to the Liquor Stocking
position, employees will work either in a warehouse, stocking food materials and transporting them to
various venues, or within a restaurant. Due to the nature of this position, employees must be over 18
years of age.
#Food Cashiers: Create an exceptional guest experience while taking food orders from guests, working a
till and handling cash. Employees will also be expected to put product together to complete order.
*Lounge Server/Suites Server/ Dining Room Server (18+): Create an exceptional guest experience for
our guests in various restaurants throughout Stampede Park. Employees are expected to have previous
serving experience and are required to have pro serve.
Barista: These individuals will have the unique role of making specialty coffee and drinks, while creating
an exceptional experience for our guests.
Cost Controller (Cash Office Supervisor) (18+): This role handles all of the cash that is collected by
their venue: counting, budgeting, gratuity tip outs, and all while providing an exceptional guest
experience.
*Door Host (Door Staff) (18+): Create an exceptional guest experience for our guests while positioned
at the entrance of each venue (with the Security Guards), greeting patrons, checking IDs, basic crowd
control and maintain emergency exits. Due to the nature of this position, employees must be over 18
years of age.
Event Supervisor (18+): Create an exceptional experience for our guests and employees by supervising
entire venues. Employees must have plenty of supervisory experience managing more than 10
employees, knowledge of food and beverage industry and exceptional leadership skills.

# Floor Supervisor: Create an exceptional guest experience for both guests and employees while
supervising an entire floor/section of the Grandstand and all of the vendors, runners and staff on that
floor. This position requires supervisory experience and strong leadership and confidence
characteristics.
#Station Supervisor: Create an exceptional guest experience for both guests and employees while
supervising all of the staff with in a Concession Stand. This position requires some supervisory and
leadership experience.
