The only possible outcomes of an audit are that registrants are deemed either compliant or
non-compliant. A decision of non-compliance leads to a professional misconduct
inquiry.
There are a number of pathways to each outcome and they are detailed as follows.
Possible Pathways for CPD Audit
Pathway 1:
CPD requirements are met
Compliant
Pathway 2:
Most CPD requirements are met and further
information is requested. This additional information
is examined and accepted.
Compliant
Most CPD requirements are met and further
information is requested. This additional information
is examined and deemed insufficient.
Follow Pathway 3
CPD requirements are not met. The assessors
recommend additional time and specify a timeframe
in which the registrant can meet the CPD
requirements. The portfolio is audited a second time
and deemed acceptable
Compliant
CPD requirements are not met. The assessors
recommend additional time and specify a timeframe
in which the registrant can meet the CPD
requirements. The portfolio is audited a second time
and is deemed unacceptable.
Compliant
Pathway 3:
The registrant is given the ‘right of reply’.
Non-compliant
The Registration Board will make their decision
considering both the CPD assessors report and the
registrant’s submission into account.
Pathway 4:
CPD requirements are not met through the following
scenarios:
 No response from registrant
 No portfolio submitted
 Portfolio prompts fitness to practice
concerns
 Concerns about false declarations
A non-compliant recommendation to the Registration
Board will be made. The registrant will be given the
right of reply.
The Board will make a decision considering both the
CPD assessors report and the registrants report.
