I must choose to turn away from my sin

Faith Talk
Spiritual Birth/Sin/Repentance/I must choose to turn away from my sin/Acts 3:19
1. Create INTEREST in the subject: “What are we going to talk about?”
Talk about a time when you got lost on the way somewhere. When did you figure out you were
headed the wrong way? What did you do?
Life is a lot like a journey we all take. We all start out headed the wrong direction. When we
realize we are headed the wrong way in life, we are faced with the choice to turn around and go
the right way or keep going down the road to destruction.
How do you change directions in life?
2. INVESTIGATE God’s Word: “What does the Bible say about it?”
We are told the way to change our direction in life in Acts 3:19 “Therefore repent and turn back,
that your sins may be wiped out”.
First we must admit we all sin (Romans 3:23) and that our sin has devastating eternal
consequences (Romans 6:23). Next we must confess, acknowledge, and admit our sins to God
who will forgive us. (I John 1:9). Repenting is not just feeling sorry for your sins but a choice you
make to turn around, change directions, and follow Christ.
3. Discuss personal IMPACT: “What difference will it make in my life?”
I know I have a choice to make in my life about sin and repentance.
Today I can choose to turn away from my sin, accept Christ’s offer of forgiveness and eternal
life, or remain headed the wrong direction.
My choice is to ______________
Parents, tell your children and students about the choice you have made in your own life.
4. Pray with their children related to this discussion.
The greatest joy a parent can have is seeing their children become believers and followers of
Christ. Pray with your children about their need for a Saviour. Pray that they will come to know
Him personally.
