Financial Report (John Castaldo)
o John brought copies of the financial report to the meeting.
o It appears that the Chapters have not spent their funds to date, but it is anticipated that
funds will be expended for Alumni Reunion Weekend. The Alumni Association has
heard from most Chapters regarding their plans, except for Rugby and Wrestling.
o There are no current plans to reallocate Hall of Fame, because that will not be occurring
this year.
o John is trying to get the Alumni Association/Foundation’s insurance policy on The
College’s fiscal year, which is July to July. The bill current runs from February to
February.
Old Business (Ken Baumann)
o Open Full Board & Executive Board Positions: The Executive Board discussed open
positions for next year. The Alumni Association has received more nominations for the
Full Board. Also, Dave Maurer’s Vice President position will be open in June, as well as
Justin Saponara’s Parliamentarian position. The Executive Board also discussed the EOF
Chapter’s leadership and their Alumni Reunion Weekend event.
o 5K Race: John Castaldo and Ken Baumann met with Sgt. Bell from Campus Police to
discuss costs for the 5K Race on September 18, 2016. Ken has looked into some race
companies. John and Ken are meeting with Chuck Wright to discuss sponsorships.
o Accepted Students Day: Will take place on April 9, 2016. The location is TBD. Alumni
Association volunteers will attend.
o Alumni Awards: The nominees are Randy Lumia ’84 (Alumni Citation Award), Michelle
Gervasi ’08 (Distinguished Service Award), George Toole ’59 (Humanitarian Award), and
Kaitlin West ’15 (Young Alumni Award). All nominees have responded and can attend
the awards brunch on April 30, 2016. The location will be Decker Hall. Because it is the
last day of Passover, there will be Passover options on the menu.
o Chapters/Networks: Tracy Zarodnansky has updates from almost all Chapters. John
Castaldo is in the process of developing networks in Boston, North Jersey, and
Washington, DC.

New Business (Ken Baumann)
o Budget FY2017: John indicated that we will have a better understanding of next year’s
budget after Alumni Reunion Weekend.
o Nominations: The Executive Board discussed open positions again, as well as the status
of absentees. An email will be sent about Full Board interest for next year.
o Bylaws Review Process: The Executive Board’s goal is to complete review by the June
meeting. Ken will review Justin’s comments. John indicated that we need to find a
mechanism to incorporate everyone’s changes. Ken proposed distributing the proposed
new bylaws to the Full Board at least one week before a Full Board meeting, so that
everyone has time to review.
o Homecoming Committee Update: John discussed the challenges of getting multiple
departments within The College on the same page. The best way for students to
tailgate remains an issue.
o Events: The McCarter Theater event on March 19, 2016 is sold out. Contract review is
currently underway for a Philadelphia Phillies event on June 4, 2016.
Alumni Reunion Weekend (John Castaldo)
o Registration is already close to 300. Participants need only register once, but that also
makes head counts for each event challenging. Alumni Affairs plans to send people to
each event to do an estimated head count.
o Schedules for the weekend already have been distributed.
o The Lions Pride Brunch, as previously discussed, requires separate registration.
o The Alumni Event Programming will take place on April 30, 2016 from 2:30-3:30pm. Ken
will discuss at the Full Board meeting on March 24, 2016.
o The Veterans Event will take place on April 30, 2016 from 3:45-4:15pm. John is looking
for a program for this year. The College does not have a database of alumni who are
veterans. John tried to keep count after last year’s Veterans Event. His list has
approximately 267 alumni veterans.
o The All Alumni Celebration will take place on April 30, 2016 at 4:30pm on the Green
Lawn. WTSR will be present, as well as a fourteen-piece band. There will be a barbecue
and family area. There may be a raffle as well. John indicated that a backup plan for
rain is still being developed.
o Approximately thirty volunteers will be needed for the weekend.
Budget Carryover (Ken Baumann)
o TALANT has asked whether they can use this year’s unused funds next year.
o Ken proposed allowing Chapters to carryover funds into the next fiscal year, provided
they meet the following four requirements:
 The Chapter requests carryover at least three months before the end of the
current fiscal year; and
 The Chapter specifies why they are not using their funds in the current fiscal
year; and



The Chapter specifies how they plan to use the carryover funds in the next fiscal
year; and
 The Chapter understands that there may be only one carryover of funds. (The
funds must be used in the next fiscal year or they will be lost. There will be no
consecutive carryover.)
o John suggested that the above criteria be incorporated into the bylaws.
Scholarship Committee (Ken Baumann)
o The Executive Board discussed Steve Piccininni’s scholarship proposal.
June Meeting (John Castaldo & Ken Baumann)
o The June 8, 2016 Full Board meeting will take place at DeLorenzo’s on Sloan Avenue in
Hamilton. The Alumni Association will need a head count ahead of time to pre-order.
Meeting adjourned: 7:18 PM
