A P’varic Tarot
The deck consists of 38 cards which break down as follows:
10 Major Keys: 1 for each of the major gods of Hârn
28 Minor Keys: one for each possible paired combination of the 7 elements of
the Pvaric wheel.
Step 1: The GM secretly rolls the Querent’s Tarotry Skill:
CS: The reading is completely accurate. The GM should secretly
modify future events to reflect this.
MS: The reading is mostly accurate. The GM secretly determines which
elements of the reading are true. A good rule of thumb is a percentage equal to
the Querent’s Tarotry ML.
MF: The reading is Mostly false. The GM secretly determines which
elements are untrue. The GM can warp or mdify these elements as s/he sees fit.
CF: The reading is totally false. The GM secretly modifies future events
to reflect this, possibly to the detriment of either the client or Querent.
Step 2: Shuffle the cards. Make sure tha you turn some of the cards 180° while
shuffling... reversals are important.
Step 3: The layout. The Querent lays out 7 cards as follows:
7
2
6
1
5
3
4
Step 4: Interpreting the results.
The cards each occupy a part of the P’varic wheel, hereafter referred to as
houses. The First house is Neutral. The card placed here represents the overall
theme of the situation. If the card is a Major Key, it represents that god’s
influence as being the major force at work.
Example: Halea appears in the First house. It could be interpreted as the
Goddesses direct relationship with the querent or an aspect of their control, in
this case love, money, commerce, bargains, etc.
If a Minor Key appears, the top suit represents external forces at work, the
bottom suit represents internal forces at work.
Example: Savorya (top)/Odivshe (bottom): the elements of Savorya (Thought,
mind, will, a letter perhaps?) are external, the elements of Odivshe (water,
darkness, gloom) are at work internally. Possible interpretation: The client
will receive a disturbing letter, or anothr may see it that the client will deliver a
letter by sea.
The Second house is Lyahvi: light and air. As with the first house, the card
here represents the forces at work in that aspect of the situation. In the case of
this and the remaining houses, if a Minor Key appears view the outermost
symbol the top, and the innermost symbol the bottom.
Continue in this manner and compile all the data into one reading. I have not
included interpretations of the cards so that there is the greatest possible range
of results. The Symbols used are self explanitory.
Have fun! This deck has resulted in many hours of pc driven plots, as well as
lively debates as to the true meanings of the cards.
