Why Every Christian Needs Constant Reminders – 2 Peter 1:12-15
I.
Constant Reminders
A.
The Word of God is a masterpiece filled with the divine teaching technique
of repetition.
B.
II.
Tonight we are going to celebrate one of God’s most beautiful, constant
reminders as we share the Lord’s Supper together.
Peter’s Passionate Desire
A.
Peter, as he nears the end of his life, is passionate about establishing the
people that he shepherds in the essential truths of the Christian faith.
B.
Peter knows that his remaining time on earth is short and he wants to use
it as effectively and fruitfully as he possibly can.
John 21:18-19
18
Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you used to dress
yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will
stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where
you do not want to go. 19 (This he said to show by what kind of death he
was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him, “Follow me.”

Verse 15 is a wonderful summary, in three parts, of what our goal
ought to be as we teach God’s Word.
