Thanks Daniella! I loved listening to your Spilled Milk podcasts last week. I have gotten a little
tired of the politics on the news, so food is the best substitute.
I hope everyone is staying cool. It’s pretty brutal out there during the day. We call this weather
“Like winter in Minnesota” – you can go outside, but you have to be prepared, and the
vegetables don’t love it very much I’m afraid. We are lucky to have a 12 month growing season,
so I am happy to have the okra and eggplant, some melons and mint, and now sweet potatoes!
See the abundant vegetables below and if you have any questions about the things not on the
list, let me know.
Thank you for your contribution to the CSA survey. The farmers have been in bi-weekly classes
with Professor Joe to review planting schedules, selecting good varieties, block planting and
succession planting. Thanks to your feedback, the have some specific action items to base their
Fall planting plans.
Any Artists out there?? We want to make a poster of the
Houston Vegetable seasons. If you can draw an eggplant or a
pea? A sweet potato or a kale leaf? Daniella would love to hear
from you. Doodlers and artists all welcome!
