E&NH0554 Trust’s HR team wins national recognition At the annual Healthcare People Management Association’s awards held on 18 June, the Trust won the best HR team award and were announced as the overall winners Stevenage, UK – 24 June 2015 – The Trust’s human resources team enjoyed real success at the recent Healthcare People Management Association’s annual awards. The Trust won the best HR team category, as well as the overall winners award. The team, led by the Trust’s director of workforce and organisational development, Thomas Simons and deputy director of workforce and OD, Kerry Eldridge, accepted the awards at a ceremony held in central London on Thursday, 18 June 2015. Commenting on the awards, Thomas Simons said: “Human resources staff are part of several teams that work behind the scenes supporting their clinical colleagues in providing patients with really great care. Often we’re the first port of call when things go wrong or need sorting at short notice. Over the last two years, the team has worked very hard to deliver improved services, with all aspects being overhauled and, in many cases, redesigned – whilst at the same time keeping the show on the road! “Winning the HR team of the year up against finalists with such national reputations as London’s Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and the University Hospital of Leicester NHS Trust was a great feeling for all of us – but being judged as the overall winner at this year’s awards really was the icing on the cake! I know that my team is really pleased at what has happened, but we will not rest on our laurels as we continue to make improvements – especially in how we support our doctors and nurses to deliver great care to patients.” 2/Trust’s HR team wins national recognition The Trust’s chief executive, Nick Carver, said: “We’ve been used to many of our clinical teams winning national and international accolades for their work over recent years, so it is really nice to see our support services getting equal recognition. Our awards wall is beginning to fill up quickly, but we know that if we are to realise our ambition to become amongst the best performing NHS organisations, more needs to be done across many areas of the Trust. That is the challenging that we are tackling now.” Finally, what the judges said: “This was felt by the judges to demonstrate excellence in HR. The enthusiasm of the team was palpable and they were a credit to the service and the profession.” - ends - Notes to editors Awards citation about the Trust’s HR team The HR team was in charge of the workforce transformation.
