Each action requires a name and an Action Category. l l Action Group: Multiple actions can be assembled into an Action Group. Action Groups allow you to track the same Actions over different campaign by selecting the same Action Group. l l Action Category: When creating an Action you have to select the Action Category this Action belongs to. This assignment is used for reporting and optimization purposes. While you can only access your own Action Groups, all Action Categories are shared among all Splicky customers l l Splicky Action Tracking Client side pixel tracking Client side pixel tracking The client side pixel tracking uses client side cookies to attribute actions to the correct clicks. It is done in two simple steps: 1. Create an Action Group and Actions in the Splicky User Interface 2. Place the code for these Actions on your website where they should be fired Splicky Action Tracking Client side pixel tracking Step 1 – Create an Action Group and Actions in the Splicky User Interface In order to create a Splicky Tracking Action open the „Tracking“ section on the campaign level. You can either choose an existing Action Group or click the „Create“ button to create a new one. l Within that Action Group create as many Actions as you need and assign a name, an action category and hit „Save“. l !!! You can only track actions in Splicky if you select the associated Action Group in your campaign !!! l Splicky Action Tracking Client side pixel tracking Step 2 – Place the code for these Actions on your website Pull the code for each action by clicking on „Code“. A popup will open with your client side pixel. Per default it is already wrapped into a HTML image tag for easy copy and paste. l Place this code on your website on the page where your action takes place. l l Splicky Action Tracking Server-2-Server Tracking Server-2-Server Action Tracking Differs from client side pixel tracking by the absence of cookie tracking capabilities. Therefor you need to append a click-id to the Splicky tracking url in order for Splicky to track Actions. Splicky will provide this click-id within the creative‘s click url. You will then have to place this click-id in the Splicky tracking url. Usually this requires IT support on your side. The detailed steps are: 1. Add the click-id macro in your creative‘s click url 2. Create an Action Group and at least one Action 3. Set up the Splicky Action Tracking on your server Splicky Action Tracking Server-2-Server Tracking Step 1 - Add the click-id in your creative’s click url in the Splicky Interface This is how your URL might look like: http://lp.advertiser.com or https://lp.advertiser.com Now insert the Splicky click macro (S_CLICK_ID): http://lp.advertiser.com?yourclickparameter=(S_CLICK_ID) or https://lp.advertiser.com?yourclickparameter=(S_CLICK_ID) When the link is clicked, the macro will be replaced with the unique ID, e.g.: http://lp.advertiser.com?yourclickparameter=13259834458797218 or https://lp.advertiser.com?yourclickparameter=13259834458797218 Based on this click ID we register all successful Actions. Splicky Action Tracking Server-2-Server Tracking Step 2 – Create an Action Group and Actions in the Splicky User Interface This step is the same as for client side pixel tracking. You can use the same Actions for client side pixel tracking and Server-2-Server tracking. You just need to pull different tracking urls. l In order to create a Splicky Tracking Action open the „Tracking“ section on the campaign level. You can either choose an existing Action Group or click the „Create“ button to create a new one. l Within that Action Group create as many Actions as you need and assign a name, an action category and hit „Save“. l !!! You can only track actions in Splicky if you select the associated Action Group in your campaign !!! l Splicky Action Tracking Server-2-Server Tracking Step 3 - Set up the Splicky conversion tracking on your server l Pull the tracking url for each Action by clicking on the respective “Code” button. A popup will open with the client-side pixel for this action. Click on “Server-side” in order to get the tracking url for this Action. This url contains a placeholder: <Splicky Click ID> You need to replace this placeholder by the click id we place in your tracking url. (see Step 1 - Add the click-id in your creative’s click url in the Splicky Interface Base transaction URL example: https://t.splicky.com/transaction?p=5&tt=904&ts=49&clickid=<Splicky Click Id> Its mandatory to replace the <Splick Click Id> placeholder by the click id Splicky put in the creative‘s tracking url by substituting the (S_CLICK_ID) macro (click-id macro).
