NOMINATIONS All nominations for the 2017 Spring Junior Livestock Show will be completed online through Showorks. The site will be open on December 5th and will close at midnight December 16th. There will not be on-site nominations this year. All animals must be tagged with the scanable county tag prior to entering the nominations online. Identification information must be entered in order to complete the nomination. COMMERCIAL & NON-COMMERCIAL BOOTH EXHIBITS All Commercial & Non Commercial Booths must be checked in by Thursday @ 3:00 p.m. All booths will be required to set up and displayed during livestock shows. Booth Fee is $30.00 for each 10 x 10 booth space. Tables will be available. Electrical outlets must be requested on entry form. FFA & 4-H Chapter booths will not be charged. Booths will be assigned on a first Paid basis. No Refunds will be given. Any Booth exhibitor that participates in drawings for public prizes, awards, or items of value must have permission from the LCFB. Any official of the LCFB shall have access to the premises to any exhibitor at all times All spaces are to be kept neat and clean and each exhibitor is responsible for their own trash. All exhibitors are expected to conduct business in a quiet, orderly manner. All Booth Exhibitors must cover their tables with tablecloths. The LCFB reserves the right to cancel any contract for violations of rules or misconduct. Any Exhibitor food or beverage will be considered a concession and will not be sold without prior approval from the LCFB. No Alcoholic beverages or drugs will be allowed on the premises. The LCFB is not responsible for accidents, injury, theft, damages, or loss during this event. For booth reservations contact Misti Upton (918)649-4499. PREMIUM SALE All Grand Champions & Reserve Grand Champions in the Market Division must sell. All Supreme Champions & Reserve Supreme Champions in the Breeding Division must sell unless exhibitor has made sale with a Grand or Reserve Grand Market Animal. Sale will be limited to: Beef: 25 Beef animals will make the sale. All 25 slots will be based on a percentage of the total number of Market Steers and Heifers at time of check in. Hogs: 50 Hogs will make the sale. The 50 slots will be divided between barrows and gilts based on percentage of total number of barrows and gilts at completion of check in. Sheep: 16 Sheep will make the sale. The 16 slots will be divided between market and breeding based on a percentage of total number of market and breeding sheep at completion of check in. Goats: 16 Goats will make the sale. The 16 slots will be divided between wethers and does based on a percentage of total number of wethers and does at completion of check in. Each exhibitor may sell only one animal in the Premium Sale. Decision as to the sale of animals must be made to Misti Upton within 30 MINUTES after the Swine show is complete. If no decision has been made, Fair Board Management will make the decision for you. No changes in sale order will be made once posted. With the exception of cattle, animals are not eligible to make sale more than one year. Exhibitors and exhibitor’s parent/guardian must sign a waiver declaring if their animal has/has not made the premium sale the previous year. If exhibitor makes the sale with two (2) animals they must pull the animal that has an alternate below it. You cannot pull an animal if there is no alternate below it. This rule cannot override Rule 1 and rule 2 Grand and Reserve must sell. Each sale animal will be auctioned on a per head basis. The highest bid will represent the bonus to be paid to the exhibitor. Add on bids will be accepted. The animal will remain the property of the exhibitor. All add on bids must be turned in at the premium sale desk no later than 6:00 p.m., March 3rd, to be announced at Premium Sale. 4 SHOW RING CODE OF ETHICS Believing it is in the best interest of breeders of all livestock to maintain a reputation of integrity and to continue to present a wholesome and progressive image in the show ring, the management of the LeFlore County Junior Livestock Show lists herewith those practices which are considered unacceptable in presenting livestock in the show ring. The use of such practices or procedures is, therefore, considered unethical in the showing of livestock at the LeFlore County Junior Livestock Show. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Misrepresenting the age of the animal for the class in which it is shown. Treating or massaging of any part of the body internally or externally with an irritant, counter-irritant, or other substance to temporarily straighten a weak back or loin; or to produce unnatural animation. Minimizing the effects of cramps by feeding or injecting drugs, depressants or applying packs or using any artificial contrivance or therapeutic treatment exempting normal exercise. Striking the animal to cause swelling in a depressed area and/or drenching of any type. Surgery of any kind performed to change the natural contour or appearance of the animal’s body, hide or hair. Not included is the removal of teats or horns, clipping and dressing of hair and trimming hooves. Insertion of foreign material under the skin. Any attempt to change natural color of an animal, either purebred or crossbred, by changing color or adding false hair, fleece or skin at any point, spot or area of the animal’s body. The use of alcoholic beverages in the feed or administered as a drench. Exception- A hydration drench may be used with the use of a drench gun only. Administration of a drug of any kind or description, internally or externally prior to entering the show ring, except for treating a recognized disease or injury. For the purpose of these rules, the term “legal drug” shall mean any substance, the sale, possession or use of which is controlled by license under federal, state or local laws or regulations and by any substance commonly used by the medical or veterinary professions. The use of any chemical and/or compounds that is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in meat producing animals and the illegal use of approved chemicals and/or compounds are prohibited. All animals shall be subject to tests for foreign substances that exceed the acceptable levels established by the United States Department of Agriculture, Food and Drug Administration or the Environmental Protection Agency. A positive test will result in disqualification, forfeiture of any premiums and/or awards and will exclude the exhibitor from future competition at the LeFlore County Junior Livestock Show. All medications will be administered by a licensed veterinarian. *** LeFlore County Fair Board reserves the right to have a blood and urine laboratory analysis made for any animal at the Junior Livestock show. ***Any exhibitor administering a drug to an animal which would render the carcass unfit for human consumption or any exhibitor of an animal producing an analysis indicating the presence of an unapproved drug that can result in a quantitative or qualitative change in the characteristic of the animal will be required to return all premium money and could be banned from further competition in the LeFlore County Junior Livestock Show. Their name and the lab analysis will be submitted to the USDA for further investigation and possible prosecution. Any animal receiving medication for any life threatening disease or illness must be registered at the time they are entered in the show. 10. 11. 12. 13. Balancing the udder by any abnormal means including the use of a mechanical contrivance or the injection of fluid or drugs. Setting the teats and/or occluding (sealing the ends) with a mechanical contrivance or with the use of a chemical preparation. Treating or massaging the udder or its attachments with an irritant or counter-irritant. The use of common products such as fly spray, ointment or liniment in excess to the extent that is irritating is included as an irritant unless required to reduce the edema at time of calving. Criticizing or interfering with the judge, other exhibitors or show officials while attending the Junior Livestock Show may result in an individual or group being expelled, placed on probation or declared ineligible at the LeFlore County Junior Livestock Show. 5 14. Any violation of the Rules and Regulations incorporated in the Show Ring Code of Ethics or any other rules set forth by the LeFlore County Fair Board for this event may result in forfeiture of all premiums and awards, disqualification, expulsion or other disciplinary action of the Fair Management will be final. Such action will require application for readmission under such terms as the Management may prescribe before the group or individual is allowed to exhibit in future events. JUNIOR LIVESTOCK SHOW General Rules & Regulations 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. Entry fee of $15.00 for each animal officially entered in the show must be paid to the LeFlore County Fair Board. No refund of entry fees. All entries and fees must be received by February 17, 2017. Late entries, IF ACCEPTED, will be charged double the amount of entry fee. All animals entered must be owned & fed by exhibitor by December 7th, 2016. All animals must be exhibited by owner during show, unless extenuating circumstances exist: illness, double entry, etc. Violation will result in disqualification. Permission to substitute showman must be obtained from superintendents in advance. The number of entries per individual will be limited to no more than 3 Market animals in each division and 3 Breeding animals in each division. All exhibitors must be currently enrolled members in good standing of a LeFlore County 4H Club or FFA Chapter - NO EXCEPTIONS! All exhibitors must sign an exhibitor’s statement. Any exhibitor that does not attend a LeFlore County School must provide proof of scholastic eligibility to the LeFlore County 4H Extension Educator by the Entry Fee Deadline. Exhibitors must be 9 by the first day of Check-In (February 22, 2017). All Livestock must be seen by that exhibitor’s Ag Teacher, 4H Leader, Extension Educator or Fair Board Member by December 7, 2016 with RFID tags in place. All nomination tags and forms must be entered by that exhibitor’s Ag Teacher, 4-H Leader, Extension Educator or Fair Board Member. No animals will be allowed on the fairgrounds premises prior to the day of check in. Superintendents will establish the classes in each division. Division breaks will be utilized after any breed/species has more than 7 classes with a maximum of 6 classes/division. Swine Superintendents will appoint a classifier that will classify at the time of check in. If a discrepancy is found in breed, color, or type, swine superintendents will make decision as to which breed hog will show in. The judge’s decision will be final on all placings. The judge may reserve the right to eliminate 1st place on classes of low quality animals. Grand Champions will be chosen only from breed/division champions. Reserve Breed/Division Champion to the Grand Champion will show for Reserve Grand Champion. Exhibitors must not be on their schools ineligible list because of grades or any other discipline list. If an exhibitor is ineligible, his animal is also ineligible. LeFlore County Livestock Shows & Fairs may be considered as a qualifying show for the state for ADA purposes. If a hog, lamb, or goat does not make weight, re-weighing will be done after the scales are re-balanced and before weighing another entry. This will be the only re-weigh. All animals not making weight must be taken home. Low quality, inferior, or diseased animals will be subject to elimination from the show. No exhibitor will be permitted to stay in the barns at night. Security will be provided by the LCFB. Showmanship exhibitors will return to compete for a Champion Showman in each division; Jr Division - 12 & under, Intermediate Division - 13-15, and Sr. Division - 16 & up. Exhibitors must show their own animal. Showmanship will be ranked 1-5 order in Cattle and Pigs only to meet OYE qualifications. The sponsors will not be responsible for any loss or accident incurred during the show. Any exhibitor creating a disturbance, keeping poor care of animals, or breaking any rules, may be disqualified from show. Show areas should be kept clean and will be the responsibility of the exhibitors, parents, Ag Teachers & 4H Leaders. The use of adhesives and show day hair preparation products will be allowed on all species. No hair coloring of any type will be allowed to be used above the flank of the animal. Added hair or other material natural or manmade may not be used in the grooming of any exhibit. Any attempt to change the composition or appearance of any animal in an unnatural manner will result in disqualification. Exhibitors are encouraged to groom their own animals. NO PAID GROOMERS. 6 16. 17. 18. 19. 20. 21. 22. 23. 24. Bred & Owned will show after each species. The Bred & Owned will be for all species. The animal must have been born on exhibitors or parents farm or the Dam must be owned by exhibitor at the time of birth of the show animal. Ag instructors, 4H Leaders or LCFB Members must sign a statement to this effect. This includes offspring from a pregnant female born after purchase on exhibitors or parent’s farm (does not include aunts, grandparents, etc.) Registration papers must be in the exhibitor’s name. A letter from the breed association will suffice if no papers are available due to unforeseen problems. Once an animal is checked in it is not to be taken out of fenced facility area - between cattle barns & exhibition building. Identification rule for all species - All beef animals - commercial and registered - must have an RFID Tag and dried tattoo for identification. All sheep and goats must have an RFID ear tag and visual tag or tattoo for backup identification. All swine must have RFID ear tag and ear notches for backup identification. Ear tags, tattoos and/or notches must match information on nomination and entry form. There must be 5 entries of any breed of any species, except heifers, to qualify for a breed. If less than 5, they will be recognized as a breed but competes in AOB (all other breeds). In heifers there must be 3 of any breed to qualify for a breed. If less than 3, the heifers will be recognized as a breed but will compete in AOB (all other breeds). There will be assigned areas in all barns. No setting up of pens without prior approval from Superintendents office. Any animal on premises must be entered to show. No animals allowed on premises for display purposes. SCRAPIE RULE - Sheep & Goats - All sexually intact sheep and goats must be individually identified with one of the following -USDA Tag, Official goat registry (ABGA or IBGA tattoo only if animal is accompanied by a registration certificate or Scrapie Flock Certification Program Tags). A committee appointed by the Chairman of the LCFB will air any complaint, grievance, or exception to the rules above. Decisions will be final. In every case, a $100.00 protest fee must be made with a 24 hr advanced notice. Should the protest be sustained, the deposit will be returned; otherwise it will be forfeited. ATTENTION ALL CHOCTAW INDIAN EXHIBITORS All 4H & FFA Exhibitors are responsible to turn in a copy of their CDIB Card & SSN# to their leader or Instructor. It is the responsibility of each Leader or Instructor to apply for all donations (other than premium sale add-ons & premiums) on behalf of the Choctaw Indians. Information will be made available to all Ag Instructors and 4H Leaders as received by the Fair Management. PEE WEE SHOW There will be a Pee Wee Show for under aged children. This will be a participation ribbon show only. Pee Wee exhibitors can show any animal that is already checked in. This show will precede each division. 7 SWINE DIVISION OKLAHOMA ADMINISTRATIVE RULE (http://www.sos.state.ok.us/oar/oar_welcome.htm.) 1. 35:15-1-4. Exhibitions and shows a. As of August 1, 2009, each person who presents swine for a swine exhibition shall provide verification of a Federal Premise Identification Number. b. A swine exhibition shall not include a livestock market. 2. If an exhibitor arrives at an exhibition without a Premise ID, a premise registration application may be completed and submitted to show management. The form must be signed by a parent, guardian or third party, 18 years of age or older, who must be the owner of the property where the hog has been kept. Show management shall submit all premise ID registration forms with the show records within 15 days following the exhibition. All swine must have ear tag or ear notches for identification. Tags and/or Notches must match information sent in on nomination and entry form. SWINE PSEUDO RABIES REQUIREMENTS The following steps are required to exhibit market swine and open gilts in OK Livestock Shows: 1. 2. 3. Have a negative PSEUDO RABIES test conducted after December 1, 2016, and be identified on the test record by official identification number. Be individually identified with an official identification device permanently affixed to the right ear (plastic ear tag is recommended). Present test record at each exhibition. 8 BEEF DIVISION IMPORTANT RULE CHANGE: Steers will no longer be divided into Prospect and Market divisions. The Beef Show is now a full fit show. Tattoo must match information sent in on nomination and entry form. 9 Cattle Fitting Contest – Team Event This contest is open to two teams per FFA Chapter or 4-H club. Each team must meet the following criteria: A. Team is comprised of three members B. Team members do not have to attend the same school. C. Each team must have one member under the age of 13 Contest Rules: A. The animal will be provided by the team and must be an eligible entry for the 2017 Leflore County Junior Livestock Show. B. The teams will work simultaneously in the thirty minute (30 minute) contest time to clip and fit a calf. All grooming rules of the Leflore County Beef Show will be enforced. C. Each animal must be completely clean and dry D. Students will be judged by a 3 Judge Panel based on the following criteria 1. Quality of Workmanship 2. Team Skills – Compatibility and Organization 3. Compatibility of the use of various types of clippers 4. Neatness of the individuals and work area will be considered This is an OYE Qualifying Contest! 10 SHEEP DIVISION SCRAPIE RULE - Sheep & Goats - All sheep & goats must be individually identified with one of the following USDA Tag, Official goat registry (ABGA or IBGA tattoo only if animal is accompanied by a registration certificate, or Scrapie Flock Certification Program Tags). Weight: Ribbons: Placings: Market Sheep – Wethers ONLY Minimum 70 lbs. Places 1-10 Grand Champion Res. Grand Champion Breed Champion & Res. Breed Champion Must slick shear 1/4 inch on body only Wether Dam Show -Ewes Only Ages: Born on or after January 1, 2015 Classes: Will be determined after entries are received. Breed Champion Slick Shearing is permitted but not required Registration Papers for proof of pedigree is required or must show as crossbred 11 GOAT DIVISION SCRAPIE RULE - Sheep & Goats - All sheep & goats must be individually identified with one of the following USDA Tag, Official goat registry (ABGA or IBGA tattoo only if animal is accompanied by a registration certificate, or Scrapie Flock Certification Program Tags). General Rules for all Goats: 1. All goats will be weighed by superintendent and shown according to weight. Classes will be broken as numbers warrant. 2. All goats must be collared to be shown and must be tethered if they can jump out of pen. 3. Horns will be allowed but must be tipped. 4. These rules are in addition to all rules set forth by the LeFlore County Fair Board in the Show Ring Code of Ethics and General Livestock Rules & Regulations. Classes: Weight: Ribbons: Placings: Market Meat Goats Will be determined after weight cards are turned in Minimum of 50 lbs. Maximum of 160 lbs Places 1-10 Grand & Reserve Grand Additional Rules for Market Meat Goats: 1. All market goats are to be slick shorn from knee/hock up - no more than 3/8 inch of uniformed hair over the body. 2. Market goats will be judged for meat quality. Classes: Weight: Ribbons: Placings: Breeding Meat Goats - Does only Will be determined after weight cards are turned in Minimum of 50 lbs. Maximum of 160 lbs Places 1-10 Grand & Reserve Grand Additional Rules for Breeding Meat Does: 1. Does will be judged on breeding quality to produce meat goats. 12 BEDDING AND CLEAN UP FOR ALL BARNS 1. Hay feeders must be used for feeding hay. 2. Exhibitors of all livestock will be responsible for cleaning up their own area prior to leaving the show. 3. DO NOT USE THE WASH RACK FOR FEEDING YOUR ANIMALS. The hay and feed clog the drains. 4. Wood shavings will be the ONLY material used for bedding in any building. 13
