ARTICLE I
Section 1
NAME
The name of this organization shall be CAC DREAMers Club.
ARTICLE II
Section 1
MISSION AND PURPOSE
The Mission of CAC DREAMers is to create an inclusive and supportive community for
DREAMers and Allies and to provide education to college faculty, staff, administrators
and students about effectively working with DREAMers.
Section 2
The CAC DREAMers Club will provide academic and social support and scholarship
information to CAC students with Deferred Actions for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) work
permits and undocumented students.
ARTICLE III
Section 1
AUTHORITY
This organization is a recognized student organization at Central Arizona College and
adheres to all campus policies as set forth in the Central Arizona College Code of
Student Conduct and the Central Arizona College Student Organization Policies and
Guidelines.
Section 2
This organization will establish bylaws to govern administrative and procedural matters
(such as time and location of meetings, etc.). Bylaws shall not conflict with this
constitution. Bylaws may be adopted, amended, or temporarily suspended by a majority
vote present at an organization meeting where a quorum is present (advance notice is
not required).
ARTICLE IV
Section 1
MEMBERSHIP
Membership in this organization shall be open to all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and
allies of DREAMers.
Section 2
Eligibility for membership or appointed or elected student officer positions may not be
limited on the basis of race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, color, age, gender,
gender identity, marital status, citizenship, sexual orientation, or disability. The
organization shall have no rules or policies that discriminate on the basis of race,
religion, national origin, ethnicity, color, age, gender, gender identity, marital status,
citizenship, sexual orientation, or disability.
ARTICLE V
Section 1
OFFICERS
The officers of the CAC DREAMers Club shall be PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT,
SECRETARY, TREASURER, STUDENT LEADERSHIP ORGANIZATION (SLO) REPRESENTATIVE,
AND SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR.
Section 2
In order to run for office in in the CAC DREAMers Club, members must have a minimum
cumulative grade point average (g.p.a) of 2.0.
Section 3
While in office officers must maintain a 2.0 GPA and must not have below 2.0 for more
than one semester.
Section 4
Officers must be a matriculated student and be in good standing with his or her college.
Section 5
All officers serve for a term of ONE (1) YEAR or until their successors shall be duly
elected and qualified.
Section 6
Any officer who, during the term of their office, ceases to be a voting member, or fails to
maintain their status as a matriculating student maintaining a 2.0 g.p.a., in good
academic and disciplinary standing with their respective college, shall be removed from
their office and a replacement shall be elected.
ARTICLE VI
Section 1
MEETINGS
Regular meetings shall be held bi-weekly during the academic year.
Section 2
Special meetings may be called by the President or a majority of the Executive
committee. All members must be given a minimum of 24 hours’ notice prior to the
meeting time.
Section 3
Business cannot be conducted unless a quorum of the membership is present. A
quorum for this organization is defined as a majority of the voting membership.
Section 4
Members must be present to vote.
Section 5
In order to vote a member must be in good standing. Good standing constitutes meeting
criteria articulated in ARTICLE V.
ARTICLE VII
Section 1
COLLEGE ADVISORS
The CAC DREAMers Club shall have a College Advisor or College Co-Advisors who will be
a full-time member(s) of CAC faculty, staff, or administration. The advisor will fulfill the
responsibilities specified in the Student Clubs and Organizations Handbook. Advisors
shall serve on an academic year basis or until their successor has been selected.
Section 2
An Advisor wishing to no longer serve as an advisor must submit in writing a letter of
resignation to the Office of Student Engagement and Activities.
ARTICLE VIII
Section 1
FINANCES
The CAC DREAMers Club reserves the option for Officers to discuss membership dues.
Section 2
Organization funds shall not be used to purchase or reimburse members for alcoholic
beverages.
ARTICLE IX
Section 1
DISCIPLINE OF MEMBERS
All members of the CAC DREAMers Club are expected to uphold the rules and
regulations of the Central Arizona College Student Code of Conduct and adhere to the
policies and procedures set for in the Student Clubs and Organizations Handbook.
Section 2
Members that violate the Student Code of Conduct and Student Organization policies
may face disciplinary action.
ARTICLE X
Section 1
AMENDMENTS
Proposed amendments to this constitution shall be presented to the membership, in
writing, one meeting prior to the meeting where the amendment will be voted upon.
Section 2
Constitution amendments require approval by two-thirds of the voting members
present at a regular meeting. The amendment shall be effective immediately unless
otherwise stipulated in the amendment.
Section 3
A copy of any amendments to this constitution must be submitted to the Central
Arizona College Office of Student Engagement and Activities within two weeks after
adoption.
