Tank Farms - Flexibility
 Tanks can be monitored using Honeywell Enraf FlexLine gauges or
ISA100 wireless transmitters
 A single system can accommodate different needs
 Both FDAPs and transmitters can be Class1/Div1 if required

Tank Farms - Redundancy
• Wireless transmitters provide a truly redundant
communication path that doesn’t share power, cable tray,
or mounting location with the wired transmitter

3. Gas Detection
• OneWireless adapter can
be used with HART
enabled sensors like the
Honeywell Analytics XNX
• Any fixed or portable gas
detection device with a
4-20 mA output can use a
universal I/O transmitter
4-20mA

Gas Detection
1 second updates rates system wide ensures the fastest
notification time for an event decreasing exposure and
response time

Gas Detection
Duo-casting and a strong mesh allow for redundant path
creation and no lost alarms in the event of FDAP failure

Premier LNG Producer – Area Warning System
Customer
Premier integrated LNG producer with reputation for
being a safe and reliable supplier.
World-class facilities for the extraction, processing,
liquefaction and storage of gas.
Oversees and manages all the operations associated
with multiple LNG trains and gas production facilities.
Driver
Ensure personnel safety and easy evacuation of the
administrative-area buildings should a toxic gas leak
occur.
Solution Desired
An area warning system with ability to generate audiovisual alarms alerting personnel in the administration
area of the plant of any gas leaks.

Three Second Challenge
The system needs to consistently realize an activation time
from the
‒ toxic gas detectors to
‒ gas analyzer to
‒ the system panel, through several converters, to
3 seconds
‒ the RTU acting as MODBUS master to
‒ the Wireless Device Manager and then out to
‒ the XYR 6000 Universal I/O wireless transmitters to
‒ the horn and alarm beacons
Requirement - activation time of 3 seconds with the horns
and beacons activating simultaneously.

“…requirement for the end to end cycle of the
moment of detection of fire and gas until the
moment of activation of the sounders and beacons,
as well as with absence of line power.”

4. Pipelines
• Some pipeline challenges include
line of sight issues, elevation
changes, and distance between
power sources
• We can overcome these challenges
with wireless by:
‒ Using directional antennae to
achieve longer distances between
devices
‒ Using transmitter routing to
overcome line of site issues created
by elevation changes or the
curvature of the pipeline route

FDAP Distance With Omni
• Using the 8dBi Omni antennae option for the FDAP, the
distance is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) at -66 dBm

5. Vibration
• Rotating equipment failure is one of the main causes of
plant downtime
• As much as 90 percent of rotating assets in industrial
plants are not instrumented due to the high cost of wiring
vibration monitoring systems. Instead, these assets are
checked manually.
• We have a solution that is cost effective, easy to deploy
and provides timely assessments of rotating assets via
regular equipment status reports. This solution is another
enabler for our customers to install the OneWireless
infrastructure.

ISA100 Wireless Compliant Vibration Solution
• The OneWireless Vibration Solution provides everything
necessary to capture and analyze the condition of plant
assets. It consists of following key components:
‒ SKF Wireless Vibration Transmitter which is ISA 100 Wireless
compliant
‒ OneWireless infrastructure
‒ SKF @ptitude Analyst software, and associated wireless and
reliability services
• Customers can improve asset availability thanks to realtime monitoring resulting in a 30%, or more, reduction in
maintenance costs
‒ Wireless reduces workforce exposure to remote, hazardous, and
tough-to-reach locations for gathering vibration data

The Gateway Client Interface
The tunneling feature allows the SKF software to provide
full spectrum vibration data giving a much earlier indication
of failure.

Summary
• Wireless technology as a whole is gaining momentum all
the time
• The more users realize that wireless is the way they want
to go, the more important it is to be able to explain why we
are the best solution on the market
• Understanding the features and functionality of the
OneWireless system is what puts above the competition
and lets us sell a solution not just hardware
• Know how the advantages translate to the particular
vertical or exact customer we are talking to and how it will
help solve there specific problem

Remember the Backbone
• The backbone architecture is the most important thing that
sets us apart!
• This is the reason for all of the things that we do better.
The Dome of Coverage!
