WEAKNESS
1. It has been observed while conducting Career Awareness Programs
language is considered as the most important barrier.
2. Apart from this many students find the fees on heavier side and ask for the
payment of fees on installment basis.
3. Also most of the students come from rural areas and they are unaware
about the online payment and other such modes.
Kolhapur Chapter of WIRC of ICSI
OPPORTUNITIES
1.As stated earlier the University covers almost 275 affiliated colleges and
Institutes covering not less than 2 lakhs students. Hence there is a large
potential for student registration.
2. It has been observed that many students complete their executive program
and leave the CS course due to some reasons. There is a scope for bringing
these students into the main stream by providing them some recognition from
the Institute and thus can motivate them.

OPPORTUNITIES
3. The Chapter has opened Study Circle in Solapur District and also it is
planning to do the same in Ratnagiri District thereby tapping majority of
the students in those areas who find it difficult to avail the services of
Chapter easily due to travelling issues.

THREATS
1.The major threat is the unawareness about the course and the job
opportunities it provides. Majority of the students appear from rural areas and
are unwilling to leave their native place and ask for the job opportunities in
Kolhapur and surrounding areas .E.g.: 1. In and around Kolhapur and
surrounding area there are only 5 listed companies.
2. There is an opportunities for appearing in NCLT, NCLAT, OL office etc. All these
are in Metro cities. Where else students coming from rural are not familiar with
these appearance. Students should be trained to appear before these bodies.
3. The students complain that apart from annual filing and DSC work no other
work is available and thus there is a need to increase the scope of the work to
the far rural area.
Kolhapur Chapter of WIRC of ICSI
THREATS
4. Apart from the students the present members also complain for the intense
competition and that too on the basis of cost. Hence the Institute should have a
look towards it. Competition is not complained but cost cutting is complained
here. (E. g. Client PQR approaches Member A for the Incorporation of Company,
CS “A” quotes say 25,000/- Rs. for Incorporation. Wherein Member “ B” comes
to know about this, he approaches Client PQR and suggests him Incorporation
for Rs. 18,000/- say thereby taking competing on the basis of cost.)

Strategy to increase registration –
Steps already taken:1. The Chapter is in touch with various colleges and Institutes for creating
awareness among the students for pursuing the CS course.
2. Programmes relating to career counselling and career planning in various
colleges.
3. Participation in education fair thereby tapping large students.
4. Programmes like blood donation, tree plantation thereby creating awareness
about the Institute and course indirectly leading to increase.
Kolhapur Chapter of WIRC of ICSI
Steps to be taken:1. The major hurdle of students found is the scope relating to the profession.
Increase in the scope for the rural areas can automatically result into increase in
registration.
2. Career counselling to students who are dropping out at the mid stages of the
Course so as to convince them for pursuance of the course till the end stage.
3. We propose to grant authority to chapter for collecting fees on cash basis as
another hurdle is lack of debit card and bank accounts with the students and they
are dependent on their friends and parents for the same. Even parents are not
familiar with cashless and digital payment systems. Also it causes a roadblock in
registration process.
Kolhapur Chapter of WIRC of ICSI
1.The major hurdle seen is the lack of scope for profession, thereby
increasing the scope automatically registration can be increased.
2. Wherein walk in students approach the Chapter for inquiry about
the course we convert them into Registered Students by providing the
facilities like OTC conducted by the Chapter.
3. The target set for the year 2017 can be achieved by rigorous career
counselling and converting walk in students into Registered students as
far as possible.
