Dear Applicant, Great news, we’ve read your application and would now like to invite you to an interview for our BA (Hons) Architecture course (UCAS code K100). You’ll find the confirmed date and time for this on your UCAS Track account. On arrival, please report to: Reception, Broadcasting Place, Humanities Building, City Campus LS2 9PD Maps and directions of how to find us can be found here: Get campus maps here What’s the plan? You will have an informal group interview, led by one of the architecture staff, which will last approximately 60 minutes. You should bring an organised portfolio to your interview which demonstrates the range of your Art and Design studies to date. We interview from November onwards in order to give applicants time to prepare their portfolio. We are not looking for architectural projects or drawings of buildings, so do not worry if your work does not include these items. We would prefer that your portfolio include: a good range of art and design project work, paintings, observational drawings, life drawings, sketchbooks evidence of experimentation, developing and refining ideas as well as finished pieces any 3D items which you feel illustrate your interests, development and potential as a creative designer If it is not possible to bring large items, photographs are perfectly acceptable as a supplement to the physical portfolio. You should also provide evidence of written work such as research and analysis of Art and Design. During the interview we will also be looking for your ability to convey enthusiasm and interest in the subject, in addition to creative thinking and the ability to describe and evaluate your work. Following your interview you will also get the chance to meet some of our students and have a tour of the studios and workshop areas – this will take approximately 30 minutes and should give you a clear idea about our facilities and work. The whole process should last approximately 2 hours. What should I bring? As well as your graphic design portfolio, you’ll also need to bring your photographic ID (passport or driving licence) which will be checked at your interview. If you do not have this please bring along your birth certificate. You’ll be notified by UCAS of the result of your interview once a decision has been made. What to do now We receive a high number of applications, so it’s very important that you either accept or decline the invitation to your interview day via your UCAS Track account. You won’t receive a copy of this letter in the post. If you don’t respond to your invitation, unfortunately we will have to withdraw your application to this course. Do let us know about any special needs or requirements you may have for your interview as soon as possible via email at [email protected] and we will do our best to accommodate them. If you have any queries about any of the information in this letter, please contact us at [email protected] or on 0113 812 6127. Yours sincerely, Julie Holah Admissions Manager Student Admissions
