Project Overview
Company Information
After Market Performance, LLC was founded in August of 2009. As a small startup company comprised of three partners, we set out to provide aftermarket performance
parts and accessories for Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen automobiles.
Goal of Site
After Market Performance, LLC online retail site will provide aftermarket
automotive parts and accessories, while providing our customers with quality products
and exceptional service. Our relationship with automotive aftermarket manufactures
allows us to provide our customers the best quality products for the best price. Our
extensive product catalog is updated weekly along with new sale items. After Market
Performance e-commerce store will allow customers to search for parts, browse product
categories and products, view detailed product specifications (including images), and add
products to the shopping cart for purchase. Administrators will be assigned and allowed
editing capabilities to the site for maintenance (i.e. catalog updates), order processing,
and customer service (including order history and metrics).
Team Members
Being a start-up company with only three partners and limited cash flow for
outsourcing work has forced each member to fill multiple roles. These roles are outline
below:

Josh M – Developer / IT Engineer: Josh holds a Bachelors of Science in
Management Information Systems and has developed multiple e-Commerce sites
for fortune 500,000 companies.

4

Jim H – Project Manager / Testing: Jim is a certified Project Management
Professional (PMP) and holds a Masters of Business Administration.

Michele M – Quality Assurance / Marketing: Michele holds a Masters of Science
in Marketing and joins the team from a successful career at Ogilvy marketing.
Physical Setting
If this were not a start-up company After Market Performance, LLC would follow
the traditional “simple physical design”. An investment would be made to purchase a
Dell PowerEdge T300 Server; this would provide the company the capabilities to host
their own site and provide ample data storage. Moreover, the company would purchase
Microsoft’s SQL Server 2008 to manage the data and create individual databases for the
product catalog, customers, shopping cart, and mail server. In addition, the purchase of
Microsoft’s Visual Studio 2008 would be made to actually design the site and create
customer reporting metrics.
Conversely, as this is a startup company with limited capital; outsourcing has
been identified as the ideal option. The decision has been made to utilize iBuilt.net for the
design and hosting of AfterMarketPerformance.net. A basic e-Commerce package starts
at $39.95 a month and is scaleable based on specific requirements. See e-Commerce
features below:






Price = $39.95 month
Disk space = 450 megabytes
Pages = unlimited
POP email accounts = 40
Product Catalog = 100 (upgradeable for more products)
Online mailing list manager = 500
Target Audience
After Market Performance, LLC target audience is primarily males between the
ages of 18-34. However, the company understands this demographic is primarily for the

Volkswagen and Audi product lines. The Porsche product lines may carry an older age
bracket from 34-50+.
Psychographics
After Market Performance, LLC will pay particular attention to the five stages of
the consumer decision process.





Awareness-Need Recognition – Position target banner ads on sites consumers
visit (i.e. Car Club Forums, Blogs, etc)
Search – Utilize Google Ad-sense and other services
Evaluation of Alternatives – Customer service reviews on other sites
Purchase – Sale items, promotions, coupon codes
Post-purchase Behavior-Loyalty – Opt-in email updates & notifications
Viewable Platforms
The site will be created using standard HTML. Adobe flash media player and Sun
Microsystems Java Script have been disabled to allow users to load the site without
additional software. Customers utilizing a PC, notebook, or smart phone should not have
compatibility issues loading page content.
Primary use of product
Products offered on AfterMarketPerformance.net are tailored to increase the
physical performance and aesthetic functionality of consumer’s automobiles.
Company’s Resources
Beyond the three partners listed above After Market Performance, LLC will be
utilizing the input from national and international automobile part vendors. The
wholesaler / retailer agreements will require the 3rd party services from legal and
accounting agencies. Additional research and feedback will be provided from automobile
enthusiasts, as knowing your target audience and what they deem as popular product
categories will aid in setting up the site.

Database & Security Needs
As this site will be taking advantage of being hosted by a 3rd party, the database
requirements will be scalable and billed based on megabyte usage requirements.
Nevertheless, iBuilt.net will manage the following databases: Products, Orders,
Customers, and Reports. Checkout transactions will occur through a Secure Sockets
Layer (SSL) and the SSL security seal will appear on the checkout page. The payment
gateway will be PayPal Payments Pro and will allow customers to securely pay with a
VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, or PayPal account. The site will contain
a “my account” area to store customer information and will allow “Buy Now” quick
checkout functionality. Thus, cookies will be enabled to identify customers and expedite
the shopping cart process.
