Balloon for each team
Paper plate for each team Divide children into teams. Set
up a course for them to race on. The child has to balance a
balloon on a paper plate while walking it down the course
and back to their team.
Put a face on the pumpkin
Supplies needed:
Pumpkin cut out of poster board
Double-stick tape
Straws (purchase more than one per child)

the face to be placed. Cut out the pieces for each of the
pumpkins. Create 2 eyes, nose, 4 teeth, stem, and 2 leaves
for each pumpkin. These will be the pieces that the
children will place on the pumpkin.
Child picks up a pumpkin piece with a straw (by inhaling)
and places it on the paper pumpkin that is on the wall. Tape
is already on the paper pumpkin where the piece should be
set. Make a relay to see which team can create their

Fall Party Game Ideas
Popcorn Relay, cont.
Musical Chairs

Pumpkin Bowling
Fancy footwork is the ticket to success in this event.
First person in each team's line slips the popcorn-filled
cups over their shoes. At “GO”, they must sprint to the
appropriate box and empty their cups into it, trying to lose
as little popcorn as possible along the way. Racers run back
to tag the next teammate in line and that person must
then run to the team box with newly-filled shoe cups. The
popcorn in each box is then measured with a ruler. The
team with the most is declared the winner.
Musical Chairs-Play musical chairs using spooky music, like
The Monster Mash.
Holding a small pumpkin under their chin, students will try
to pass the gourd onto the next person in line without
using their hands.
Each student will use frosting (in Ziploc bag can squeeze
onto cookies) and sprinkles to decorate one sugar cookie.
Give each bowler two turns to roll the pumpkin toward the
pins and knock them down, just like in a real game of
bowling.
BINGO (BOO)
1 Take a bingo card from the host and have a seat.
2 Cover the "Free" space in the center of your card with a
marker.

Candy Corn Estimation Jar
Scarecrow Body Parts
Children estimate candy corn in jar
Classic identification game that is organized around Sam
the Scarecrow, a fictional character. The back story can
be as simple or elaborate as the storyteller wishes, but
the bottom line is that Sam's body parts have been
recovered, and it is up to the players to determine what
the items really are. Different food items are placed in
containers, and each player is asked to make their guesses.
Each student takes a turn dipping a spoon into the bowl of
Pumpkin Seed Relay
pumpkin seeds, scooping as many seeds as they can, and
then carrying the spoon in their mouth to the pumpkin
(plastic) at the other end of the room. If any seeds fall
off the spoon, the student continues on but then must
return to scoop them up without using hands. When he/she
has deposited all the seeds into the pumpkin, the student
returns and tags the next student in line to go.

Word Mining Game
Halloween. The sheets are printed and ready to hand out.
Ghostwords with Friends
Very small ghost-shaped erasers have one letter written
on each side. The erasers are placed in 4 containers and
the students are divided into 4 teams. The students must
run across the room, one member of each team at a time,
and grab one eraser from their team’s container, then run
back to the rest of the team. The object is to form as
many different words as possible with the letters. Each
letter may be used only one time in one word. Points are
awarded by the length of the word: 1 point for a 2-letter
word, 2 points for a 3-letter word, etc., and by additional
opportunities granted for a round, such as an extra point
for any word containing a double letter, or 3 extra points
for making 2 words that rhyme.
Minute to Grin It
Students will be put into teams. Each member of the team
will perform one “Minute to Win It”-style challenge. One
of the challenges will be to pull all tissues out of a pack
using only one hand.
Hangman

the hangman’s victim.
Ghost-centration
Memory game using a large board that the whole class can
play. As they make matches, the kids get a couple pieces
of candy corn (Amy Sharbaugh will provide candy corn).
Guess who the ghost is
Divide class into boys and girls. One group goes into
hallway, chooses who the ghost will be (that person puts a
sheet over their head and gets guided back to the room),
then the other team has to decide who it is with everyone
lined up.
Weigh the pumpkin
I will bring a pumpkin and a scale and everyone writes their
Fall Party Game Ideas
guess down on paper of how much they think the pumpkin
weighs. The pumpkin gets weighed at the end.

Boo is It!--The kids will all get a blown up, white ghost
balloon with a piece of paper inside. The paper will have
Halloween objects on it - witches, ghosts, pumpkins, etc.
The kids will have to pop the balloon and find the others
that have the matching items in order to form a group.
They will go in their groups to four different stations for
about 5-7 minutes each.
