MCGUFFEY MONTESSORI SCHOOL
PRIMARY: PRESCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN
Community items (please do not label these items)
- 1 package of BLANK 3”x5” index cards
- 1 package of BLANK 5”x8” index cards
- 4 glue sticks (disappearing purple is best)
- 2 boxes tissues, cube shaped box
The following 3 community items may be replaced with a $10 gift card to Kroger, WalMart, Target or Staples:
- 1 ream of multipurpose office paper
- BOYS: 1 bottle of Clorox Green Works all purpose cleaning spray (only that brand)
- GIRLS: 1 32-count box of Finish Powerball dishwasher detergent tablets (only that
brand)
- 1 pack of AA batteries
Personal items, to be kept at school (please label these items with your child’s name)
- 1 pair of rubber rain boots, name written on the OUTSIDE (these may not be worn
home)
- 1 pair of inside shoes (slippers, Crocs or similar soft shoes)
- 1 complete change of clothing, including underwear and socks
Personal items for full day students only (please label these items with your child’s
name)
- lunch box or lunch bag
- water bottle with SPORTS TOP ONLY (screw-off lids spill, often on someone else’s
lunch)
- cloth napkin to pack every day in your child’s lunch

- small blanket for quiet time (one yard of fleece often works well for a small blanket)
- small stuffed animal or doll to leave at school for quiet time

SUPPLY NOTES FOR PRIMARY PARENTS
Pre-Primary students do not need backpacks.
Due to limited cubby space, we will supply primary students with a special bag and
folder. Children will receive their bag at orientation or the first day of school.

- 1 large can of Play-Doh
- 1 Mead Wide Rule Composition Book (any color)
- 2 boxes tissues
- 1 box bandages, any size, no prints
- 1 pack Ticonderoga #2 pencils
- 1 cleaning sponge, any size (except car wash size)

UPPER ELEMENTARY: FOURTH, FIFTH, AND SIXTH GRADE
Community items (please do not label these items)
- 2 boxes of tissues
- 1 fine tip permanent marker, black
- 1 box bandages, any size, no prints
The following 3 items may be replaced with a $10 gift card to Kroger, Wal-Mart, Target
or Staples:
- 1 ream of multipurpose office paper
- 1 bottle of Clorox Green Works dishwashing liquid (only that brand)
- 1 container Swiss Miss hot chocolate mix
Personal Items (please label these items with your child’s name)
- 1 full-sized clipboard – any pattern or image (school appropriate)
- backpack or schoolbag—see below for recommendations
- lunch box or lunch bag and water bottle
- 1 plastic pocket folder, no internal brads, labeled
- 5 3-ring binders (4 white – 1inch, 1 or your choice 2 ½” or less)
-1 packet, loose sheets, 3-hole punched, ½” or 1/4” graph paper (50 – 100 sheets)
- 1 packet, loose sheets, 3-hole punched, ruled paper (50 – 100 sheets)
- Flash drive – 16 GB or bigger
- 1 package (8 – 10 count) #2 pencils (We prefer Ticonderoga as they sharpen more
easily.)

1. Choosing a backpack
We would prefer that students use a book bag or something similar to a messenger bag.
Students do not have large books or lots of paper to carry back and forth to school.
Smaller bags will fit more easily into the limited space that students have in which to
store their personal belongings. Research has also shown that carrying around heavy
backpacks is not good for the back. Having said all of this, if you would still like for your
student to have a backpack, please choose one that it is durable and can be stored in
our limited space. In either case, please, put your child’s name on the book bag or
backpack. So, please, no large backpacks or attached wheels.

- 1 notebook of graph paper (will need to replaced periodically throughout the year)
