Receiving in Central Areas
Set-Up
Set up a grid suitable for the number of players available. i.e. for 5 players a grid of
35x15 is appropriate. There are3 attackers and 2 defenders inside of the playing area.
There are 4 players positioned outside of the playing area
Sequence
 A player from the outside of playing area passes the ball to an attacking player in
the area
 Attacking player receives and plays to a player on the other side of the area
 The play continues for 2 minutes before the players change roles
Coaching Points
 Quality of the pass
 Receiving player’s body position (half turn, facing the passer or etc…)
 Play the pass to where the player’s facing
 Communication, verbal and visual
 Increase or decrease the number of defending players depending on skill

There are 2 teams playing a game. Minimum number of players to play would be 4v4.

Easy to get distracted by many other happenings in the game
Pass forward if received on a half turn
Pass to where the player is facing
Players should not attempt to turn with the ball if they are facing their own goal
Players should constantly communicate
