Suction Excavator Operator attainment and test targets

The Suction Excavator Operator (SEO) must master the following attainment and test
targets.
A theory and practical part apply to an SEO basic exam. If the SEO certificate is extended,
the exam will only consist of a theory part.
The SEO theory exam is based on the PVPO attainment and test targets. The SEO practical
part takes place through instruction into the basics of the following attainment and test
targets.
The attainment and test targets that are related to the knowledge, concept and
implementation of the SIR guidelines.
The instructor (employer, trainer or manufacturer/supplier) instructs and tests the candidate
with regard to these attainment and test targets. The candidate must master all specified test
targets. The instruction overview will be signed by both the instructor and candidate signed
and must be sent to the SIR by the employer.
Suction excavation work
B The SEO can explain why a specific working method is selected based on the
assignment and work permit.
A The SEO can sign the work permit and shoulder the related
responsibility (work agreements and safe performance of the work)
A The SEO can check and prepare the suction excavator tanker and accessories based
on the set of requirements of the client, suction excavator checklist and assignment
and work permit.
A The SEO can the workplace check based on the set of requirements of the client, the
pressure vacuum/suction excavation activities checklist and the assignment and work
permit.
A The SEO can end/terminate the work in accordance with the set of requirements of
the client and assignment and work permit.
Suction excavator
A The SEO can operate the suction excavator and accessories.
A The SEO can describe the operation of the suction excavator.
A The SEO can describe the operation of the different protections of the suction
excavator and, if applicable, can also operate these.
A The SEO can describe how often a suction excavator and accessories must be
inspected and certified and can check this.

Maintenance and faults
A The SEO can carry out the daily maintenance on the suction excavator.
 Check and, if required, top up the oil and cooling water level.
 Check the filtering system and, if required, clean/replace it.
A The SEO can deal correctly with faults on the suction excavator or accessories.
Risks
A The SEO can undertake actions to control risks of the suction arm (power arm and
powerless arm).
Instructor
The instructor declares that correct instruction has been provided based on the above
attainment and test targets to the candidate and that he/she masters these attainment and
test targets.
