Body Slide in 2013
Maryland’s Largest Water Park Adding Virtual Free-Fall Water Slide to Hurricane Harbor
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — August 30, 2012 — Six Flags America, fulfilling its commitment to innovation and
new attractions every season, announced today its newest addition for 2013—Bonzai Pipelines—a
revolutionary new water slide that accommodates six riders simultaneously in six individual tubes. Located
inside Maryland’s largest water park, Hurricane Harbor, Bonzai Pipelines will stand over six stories tall and
plunge riders through clear tubing before sliding them into total darkness for nearly 200 feet of pure adrenaline.
Each tube has its own unique color, path of twists and turns providing riders with six different thrilling
experiences.
“Following our record-breaking success with Apocalypse—a 10-story stand-up coaster introduced in 2012—we
want to keep our loyal families and teens excited about coming back for another new Six Flags thrill,” said Rick
Howarth, park president Six Flags America. “Bonzai Pipelines adds another exciting element to the best water
park in the region.”
Representing Hurricane Harbor’s 14th attraction, Bonzai Pipelines will stand approximately 64 feet tall with six
individual tubes ranging in length from 253 to 257 feet. Guests will step into the “Drenaline Drop” launching
capsule, stand with hands behind their head, and when the floor drops, enter a virtual free fall for
approximately 50 feet through clear tubing before hurtling into pitch darkness for more than 200 feet.
Bonzai Pipelines is the first of its kind in the world and promises to add a totally new thrill to Hurricane Harbor,
which also houses the largest seasonal wave pool in the nation.
Six Flags America announced today that 2013 season passes are now on sale at the lowest prices of the year
and provide unlimited visits for the rest of the 2012 season (including Fright Fest) and all of the 2013
season. For a limited time, with the purchase of a season pass four-pack, guests will receive a free upgrade to
a gold season pass which includes free admission and free season parking to any Six Flags Theme Park with
every pass. Offer expires October 28, 2012.
