Discourse in linguistics is characterized as special reality of
language, which is difficult and includes not only a text, but extra
linguistic factors too. These factors consist of different concepts,
the principles of their usage, our knowledge about the world,
speaker’s aims and opinions.

Concepts are the constituents of thoughts. They are crucial to
such psychological processes as categorization, inference,
memory, learning, and decision-making. Concept is a mental
representation, “a unit of mental activity”.

When do we use concepts?

- to create categories;
-to make inferences;
- to combine to form
complex thoughts;
- for communication.

We group similar things
together according to
certain common
attributes or
characteristics which
they possess and then
describe the whole group
with a single word – a
concept.
The relationship of culture and language, philosophy of love
and linguistics cause the idea of existential significance of
concept “love” as spiritual feeling, the importance to study it
in the framework of applied linguistics.

There are three main approaches to the definition of the
concept “love”:

1. Philosophical
approach
2. Lingua-cognitive
approach
3. Lingua-cultural
approach


The characteristics of semantic model of the
concept “love”:
its central position in the value system;
its positive colouring;
unmotivated choice of love object;
individual choice of love object,
sexually colored characteristics.

The concept of love in Internetdiscourse is in line with the
concepts of "happiness", "faith",
"hope".
The concept of love has the
universal value, which establishes
«the base of culture» and the main
spiritual value, connected with the
meaning of life.

Use of this concept in Internet field has no
restrictions, that’s why individual and gender
components are expressed there more
clearly.
Lingua-cognitive characteristics of concept
"love" and technologies of the substantial
and static analysis can show the result or a
scientific fact in blogs, chats, forums, social
networks, live journals and diaries.
