Top 5 implied policies-that-surprisingly-need-to-be-made-clear:
1. Learning is not torture but yes it does require you to work, after all no one just falls into a successful job
without learning some kind of skill.
2. If you can have favorite teachers, I can have favorite students. We tend to be nice to people who are nice
to us. That doesn’t change much, no matter how old you get.
3. If Joan of Arc can liberate France before she turned eighteen, you could start putting your name on your
assignments. I have that much faith in you.
4. Yes, dear, we did do something in class yesterday. We saw that you were absent and somehow gathered
the courage to move on without you. Here’s your homework assignment. It’s due tomorrow.
5. There are days when I love you more than you love yourself, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to accept
anything less than your very best.
Expectations
1. You will be required to complete all assignments, readings, and tests on time. This course is being run like a college
class which equates to NO LATE WORK ACCEPTED.
2. The class is designed to guide you through the concepts needed to do well on the SAT READING Test but you will
be required to work hard to complete all tasks in a timely manner
3. Sincere participation and dedication are necessary ingredients to do well in this course.
4. Vocabulary is a necessary evil; accept it and embrace it.
5. There will be a multitude of tests, quizzes, and writing assignments throughout this course. I am preparing you to
take a major TEST so we need to practice….. a lot.

college.
