Intercom:


A standalone communications system used by TV production
crews and on-air engineering staff
2 configurations:


4 – Wire (Matrix)
Communicate with a group, but can easily be
configured for point - to - point
2 Wire (Party)
-Usually communicates with a group, point - to - point
requires more configuration
-Uses a 32 Volt impedance generating central Power
supply to drive external stations and belt packs
(Referred to as a 2 – Wire “Wet” system)
-Uses standard microphone cable
-2 systems used: RTS & Clear Com (CC)
Difference in impedance between
the 2 systems, wiring is same
**Both 4 - Wire and 2 - Wire systems include selectable
Producer and Engineer channels
Select 4 – Wire or 2 – Wire on SY-364 board
• Producer: S530 4W – RTS(CC)
•Engineer: S531 4W – RTS(CC)

**Configure only when 2 wire system is used

Select Clear Com or RTS for both Engineer and
Producer channels

4-W will be displayed when 4-Wire intercom switch is
selected on SY-364 board

**The most commonly asked intercom question:
“How is a 2 wire system connected to the CCU?”
ENG receive/Talk
Connect to pin 1 (D-Sub 25)
ENG/PROD GND
Tie pins 3 and 16 to ENG/Prod
common
PROD receive/Talk
Connect to pin 14 (D-Sub25)
Tally


2 types used for indicating current “ON-AIR” status:
RED (Program) and Green(Preview)
There are various interfaces, all consisting of 2 wire
connections:


Contact closure: Simple, Closed (short) or Open switch
Power: 24V or TTL (+5 VDC)
Tally Switch settings, SY-364 board:
RED:
S730: Power/contact S733: Power/TTL *must
set when S730 is Power
Green: S731: Power/contact S734: Power/TTL *must set when S731 is Power
