Aims
Objectives:
and To give students practice in the following:
1 searching out sources of information putting into practice skills learnt on
the LIS induction course;
2 learning to review, analyse, compare and develop discussion on literature;
3 learning to thoroughly pursue a transport or logistics issue in some depth;
4 practice in presenting written work; clarity of expression; accuracy of
spelling, punctuation, grammar, referencing and the ability to
prepare accurate, useful and informative maps, diagrams, photographs and
other illustrative material as appropriate.
On completion of the module students will have an understanding of
information sources, techniques of search and will have gained knowledge
of a defined topic.
Content:
Students are required to carry out searches of literature relevant to a
defined subject in logistics or transport using the library and Internet
and to review, analyse and compare it.
Format:
Lectures in week 1, second semester, on campus; demonstration of
literature search techniques in the library week 2.
Individual tutorials in remaining weeks.
Assessment:
A written review of 4,800 to 5,200 words assessed on the achievement of
project aims.
Feedback will be provided in accordance with School
policy.

which may be appropriate.
