FFA-FCCLA Summer Leadership Camp Advisor and Chaperone Expectations To be completed by every adult attending SLC All chaperones must be at least 21 years of age. They must be approved by your school administration and follow your school's chaperone policies. Chaperones must sign the Advisor Expectations form and follow all camp policies. Advisors and chaperones set a good example for students at all times. The language and behavior of advisors and chaperones should remain professional at all times while at camp. Advisors and chaperones should show sportsmanship and follow the dress code. There should be no public display of affection, alcohol use, or any other actions that are prohibited at school events. Language and behavior expectations extend to all areas of camp, including cabins and advisor rooms. Model proper respect for campers, staff, and other advisors. Advisors and chaperones stay involved with students Use the camp program to build a relationship with your students that will last all year. Help students have a great week Stay involved with the student activities at all times Portray a positive attitude, a high level of excitement, and good sportsmanship Advisors and Chaperones serve as the chaperones for the students. You are responsible for the supervision of students at all times during camp. Prior to camp, arrange 1 chaperone per 10 students, and arrange a chaperone for both genders if you bring them. If you must leave during camp, secure another advisor to supervise students. There is a sign-in and sign-out sheet in the camp office to use when leaving the camp. Advisors and Chaperones enforce camp policies. Know and communicate the rules to the students. You can enforce the rules with any student at camp. Be respectful and communicate with other advisors when correcting their students. Supervise in the cabins and make sure cabins are clean Advisors and chaperones supervise dances. Help enforce rules and monitor dances for inappropriate behavior. Inappropriate dancing is prohibited. You will be assigned a duty station on a rotating basis. Please be on time to those duties. During dances in Mobley, all students are required to be in Mobley Hall or in the recreation area. Students may go back to their cabins only if accompanied by an advisor or chaperone. Advisors and chaperones enforce the dress code Be familiar with the dress code and encourage students to bring appropriate clothing to camp. The dress code also applies to adults and staff. Advisors and chaperones get involved in assemblies You are needed at all assemblies for crowd control and making sure all students are in the assembly. You are needed to participate in some activities during assemblies Advisors are responsible for communicating properly to students prior to camp. Send dates, times, and emergency contact information to parents. Distribute and collect Release Form/Medical Information/Code of Conduct Explain the rules and expectations to all students and chaperones attending camp Failure to follow these expectations could result in contacting the school administration.
