fight back - Relay For Life

Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back.
 Fight Back is not the name of a tent at Relay For Life…
It is a Way of Life!
 Fighting back occurs before, during, and after Relay by each one of
you. It means sharing information with those who could benefit by
the knowledge of what ACS provides. It means educating people on
how to prevent cancer, how early detection saves lives, and how their
donations work toward finding a cure.
 So it makes sense that during Relay For Life each booth should
provide information to Relay attendees. It is our goal that at least
80% of Turlock’s teams have a Fight Back Mission.

FIGHT BACK
 What does this mean to you?
 You can choose to sign up for the topic your team wants to incorporate at
your booth. Please email Manda Hardy at [email protected] with
the topic your team has selected. Please also include a general form of
delivery (i.e. posters, game, skit, brochure, bingo, etc.) She will create a list
for viewing online.
 Topics can be an ACS service/program, information about a type of cancer
including prevention/detection, or staying healthy in general which will help
prevent cancer.
 The educational format can be a game, skit, poster, challenge or whatever
creative format your team creates. Interactive is always better than just
posters or brochures.

Example #3
Fight Back Mission: Road To Recovery
Slogan: Make The Road to Recovery Fast
Activity: Have two cardboard cars for races. Have DJ
Dave announce what Road To Recovery is, that volunteers
are needed in real life and for the next race on the track.
Encourage people to consider volunteering as a driver for
Road To Recovery and put it on their pledge card. Hang
letters cancer patients wrote to ACS telling them how Road
To Recovery has helped them.

ACS is built on Volunteerism
 Two ACS programs that need more volunteers right now are:
1. Road to Recover: provides rides to and from treatment for
people with cancer who do not have a ride or are unable to drive
themselves.
2. Call Back: contact cancer patients, survivors and caregivers who
have been helped with American Cancer Society programs to ensure
that we have met their needs and offer additional services.
 In the Fight Back Tent we will be looking for people to
volunteer for these programs and to write it on their Pledge
Card. You also can promote these two programs.
