PRESS RELEASE
Energy efficiency: Legrand becomes the first French
manufacturer to achieve multi-site ISO 50001
certification across a wide European scope
Limoges (France), January 26, 2016 – Legrand, the global specialist in electrical and digital building
infrastructures, has obtained ISO 50001 certification for its Energy Management System. This
certification covers Legrand’s head office as well as 21 manufacturing plants and 3 logistical facilities
located in France, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and the UK. The ISO 50001
certificate was today officially handed over to Legrand Deputy Chief Executive Officer Patrice Soudan
by Jacques Matillon, the General Manager of Bureau Veritas Certification.
The achievement of ISO 50001 certification is consistent with Legrand’s
CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategy, as its 2014-2018 roadmap
already includes a target of reducing energy intensity by at least 10%.
It also illustrates Legrand’s determination to respond to the major
challenges inherent in the energy transition by promoting solutions and
services for greater energy efficiency in buildings.
Legrand’s European Energy Management System (EnMS) builds on its energy policy (itself perfectly
consistent with the Group’s Environment Charter), on its existing ISO 14001 environment management
systems – close to 90% of the Group’s sites are certified ISO 14001-compliant –, as well as on the various
initiatives and feedback reported by its sites.
The EnMS constitutes a tool of structural importance for the Group, which will enable an ongoing improvement
in its energy efficiency by harnessing Legrand’s offerings to help measure and analyse site energy
consumption patterns so as to reduce their energy intensity.
As Legrand Deputy Chief Executive Officer Patrice Soudan pointed out: “Achieving this certification
demonstrates Legrand’s firm commitment to the struggle to curb climate change. Achieving it across such a
wide European scope gives it even greater importance.”
“The European EnMS will further strengthen Legrand’s capacity to improve its energy efficiency”, stressed
Jean-Michel Rossignol, Head of Group Environment at Legrand. “For its deployment, we enjoyed expert
assistance from Bureau Veritas Consulting throughout the project.”
