Mission Project
This project will give students the opportunity to research and present information
on one or more of California’s missions.
First: Choose one of the following options:
A. Visit or choose one mission and write an in-depth report.
B. Visit a local mission (Mission San Diego de Alcala and Presidio Park OR Mission San Luis Rey de Francia
OR Mission San Juan Capistrano) and create a trifold presentation on your visit using captions and pictures that
you take.
C. Create a video about a visit to a local mission (Mission San Diego de Alcala and Presidio Park OR Mission
San Luis Rey de Francia OR Mission San Juan Capistrano).
D. Create a trifold presentation of one mission. This is a project where you don’t visit a mission but use
resources from your research to present information.
E. Create a map and timeline trifold of all the California Missions.
F. Write an in-depth historical fiction story from the perspective of the California Native Americans of this time
period.
SECOND: Be prepared to present your report or project orally to the class shortly after the due date.
This project will be graded on the following:
Project turn in on time 20 points
Creativity and Presentation 20 points
Accuracy following directions from your option choice 20 points
Neatness 10 points
Oral Presentation 30 points
This project is due on Tuesday, May 28, 2012 at 8:55 am .
Trifold presentation boards may be purchased at Walmart, Target, Office Depot or Staples. There is a picture on
the second page of this document as to what this looks like.
