Re: Volunteering with the Trust – Making an application to volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Trust. Please find the enclosed checklist
for the application pack, detailing contents and an outline of the process. Please read through
the checklist and recruitment handbook, as it will explain the selection process. You are
welcome to ring or email if you have any questions or concerns, or require assistance to
complete the forms.
Please return your completed form to volunteer services by 29th May. Either email or post
your application to the contact details above.
Interviews are planned for July 2015 and you will be contacted if you are short listed for an
interview.
We are required to follow procedures which enable us to protect our service users and
support you during your time with us. It can take time for checks to be completed and we ask
that you continue to be patient and understand that we aim to introduce volunteers in a
structured manner to the Trust. Volunteer placements will start 8 to 12 weeks after your
interview and we ask that you commit to nine months, starting from your first volunteering
session.
When reviewing applications we will give consideration to the following criteria:
 Applicants who have used, or have family members who have used, our services
 Applicant’s understanding of mental health issues
 Applicants who are local to Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham or Hounslow
 Applicants with previous or current relevant volunteering experience
 Applicants with skills or experiences that can bring something to service user or carer
experience.
 Applicant’s flexibility in terms of location and times offered
 Placements are generally Monday to Friday between working hours (9 am to 5pm)
there are a few weekend and evening placements.
 Placements generally focus on direct contact with service users or carers. There are no
administrative volunteering roles. Consideration is given where service users have
some previous experience which they seek to consolidate.
The Interview
If you are invited to an interview please bring your completed health questionnaire on the day
of interview.
Please bring three current forms of ID/address to assist with your DBS (police check ).
Current means within three months of your interview. Please let us know if you have
completed an enhanced DBS within six months of your interview, as we might be able to
accept this. You will be sent a link to complete your DBS online after your interview, provided
you are successful.
All Volunteers will be required to attend all Induction sessions outlined below.
In some instances you may also need to complete additional training specific to your
placement.
You may need to attend an appointment for immunisation updates depending on your
placement and prior inoculations.
