Effecting factors on fish prices, FGFRI results:
- Imported farmed Norwegian salmon, domestic farmed
rainbow trout and wild Baltic salmon are close substitutes. As
well, whitefish, perch and pike-perch are substitutes.
- The price of imported salmon determines the price of wild
salmon and farmed rainbow trout.
-Prices of wild caught species are affected by farmed rainbow
trout
-The markets of Baltic salmon, pikeperch, whitefish and perch
are partially integrated in Sweden and Finland

The additional affecting factors in the
prices of wild caught species
-The organisational structure of fishermen and fish market
- No producer organisations,
- long distances – no auction system, often only one buyer
-Dependence on fur industry (pelagic species)
- Importance of recreational fishery – willingness to pay
- During last few years: demand >> supply => increase of
prices
