The Alexander City Housing Authority Laurel Heights Youth and Adult Services and the Alexander City
Housing Authority Springhill Youth and Adult Services participated in the 16th ANNUAL MARTIN
LUTHER KING SERC BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT held in STATESVILLE,NC from 18 JAN thru 21
JAN 2013.
In order to participate in the 16th ANNUAL MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. SERC BASKETBALL
CHALLENGE, teams are required to participate in Educational Activities and Special Events in and
around the area of Statesville, NC. These Educational Activities and Special Events are designed to
provide entertainment for participating athletes and educate them on the history, culture and uniqueness
of the Host City. The Alexander City Housing Authority Youth and Adult Services basketball team also
had the opportunity to watch the NBA CHARLOTTE HORNETS play the SACRAMENTO KINGS.
Participating teams were from Alabama, Kentucky, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia.
The Alexander City Housing Authority Youth and Adult Services basketball team played the WinstonSalem team in the 18 & UNDER bracket for the championship and came in 2nd place.
