Mathematics teacher with 20 years experience.
She has in depth knowledge of Mathematics
teaching and assessment and co-ordinating the

develop new policies and worked with teachers
to improve teaching and learning.

Andrew started with the Trust in September

Tom has experience of working in a variety of
different schools; including inner city, all boys
and large rural secondary schools. He is
currently Head of PE at Challney as well as
being a trained mentor for Initial Teacher
Training. He also has experience in mentoring
NQTs. He is one of the PE specialist/leader of
PE subject specific trainers for University of
Hertfordshire trainee teachers

As well as being an experienced Drama
teacher, Jeremy has significant pastoral
experience having been a Head of Year for 4
years. He is currently a Head of House at
Challney. Jeremy was instrumental in raising
standards of behaviour in his previous school,
prior to joining Challney, and is a trained Pivotal
Behaviour Management instructor. He coaches
individuals as well as groups of Middle Leaders
to create outstanding behaviour for learning
(BfL) environments.
Nicola Hickton

Nicola joined the trust in January 2017 as an
experienced teacher of English from a variety of
secondary schools. Her role within English
covered KS3, 4 and 5 and leading and raising
standards within her department. In addition to
this, she worked as a Teaching and Learning
Practitioner, developing strategies, projects and
whole-school initiatives, whilst also being part of
the Shadow Leadership Team to develop
whole-school policies, resources and pedagogy.
Dan Pallett
Based at Challney High School for Boys

Dan starts with the Trust in September 2016.
Prior to this, he worked in two outstanding
schools, leading an outstanding Design,
Technology and Engineering faculty within a
Teaching School. He has also worked as a
Head of Year in a large secondary school. Dan
has undertaken outreach work in secondary
schools and University Technical Colleges,
helping bring departments up to speed with the
latest technology in the subject area. He has
designed innovative curriculums that have
revolutionised the teaching of Design, as well as
reaping outstanding pupil outcomes. Dan has
sat on Senior Leadership Teams in his two
previous schools.

Victoria has significant experience in Middle
leadership. She has led a successful
department and in this role, she has had
extensive experience of working with colleagues
to improve the provision of MFL. She has also

teachers, NQTs and OTTs supporting them
through their training.
Through her work in Middle Management,
Victoria has worked with cross phase
colleagues and has experience of implementing
a variety of systems to ensure and monitor
progress, attainment and achievement for all
students.
Ian Douglas
Assistant Head based at Denbigh High School
As a former Head of PE and an Assistant Head
in charge of pupil personal development and
well-being, Ian has been instrumental in
developing outstanding behaviour in his school.
He is a facilitator for the OTP and ITP Challenge
Partnership Programmes.
Gary Hawkins

Lucy is a highly experienced and outstanding
primary practitioner.
Having been a year leader, Lucy is now

Through her work, Lucy also works alongside
colleagues sharing her wealth of experience

Hazel has experience of leading small and large
languages departments. On a departmental
level she has been involved in curriculum
development, language learning research,
alternative accreditation, accreditation for
community languages, PGCE training, NQT
mentoring and KS2 liaison. On a whole school
level, she has led whole school MFL events,
coaching and INSET training. JPD and
networking to bring languages teachers together

Jen has 8 years experience working in an

school in her role as Professional Tutor, helping

Kirsten is an experienced teacher who has
successfully led a Humanities faculty for three
years, securing ‘outstanding’ for teaching and
learning during every internal and external audit.
Kirsten delivers SMSC training to all staff and
helped to achieve SMSC as an ‘Area of
Excellence’ during a QAR for Denbigh. Kirsten
has worked with pupils, staff and Governors on
key elements of the Prevent Strategy. Kirsten
has chaired the School Council for five years
and oversees ‘Teaching Partners’, a student as
observer programme, delivering training to
pupils across a number of schools. She has
successfully mentored both CTGs and NQTs.

Razna has been a secondary school
Mathematics teacher for 18 years, 6 years of
which has been as a successful Head of Maths.
She has a Masters in Subject Leadership and
an NPQML which focussed on ensuring Year 11
low attaining pupils in Mathematics made the
expected progress by the end of KS4. As a
result, levels of progress made by her students
was very impressive.
Razna is currently following an NPQSL course
with a key focus on improving the joint GCSE
Maths and English outcomes by working closely
with the team leader for English.

Mark is an EAL practitioner and English teacher
with 17 years classroom experience. He is
currently Assistant Headteacher responsible for
RWCM across the school. Mark has been
instrumental in raising the profile of debating
within the school and has coached three teams
to the final of the Luton Debate Mate
competition. He sees the intrinsic benefit of
topic based study and has written and launched
a series of cross-curricular projects using novels
as a platform for delivery. Mark also serves as
Staff Governor at Challney High School for
Boys.

Kim McEwan
Private Consultant
Kim has over 20 years of leadership experience
in secondary schools in Luton and Bedfordshire
including roles as Maths AST, Maths Advisor
and latterly as Vice-Principal of a local Teaching

especially in Mathematics, provision of CPD
