for Singleton Senior Soccer is going to a council meeting.
Correspondence:- None available
Financial Report:- None Available
Secretary’s Report:- None Available
Natahsa’s Report (Parks and Facilities Technician):- Alroy Oval:- In relation
to Junior Soccer and Singleton Track and Field. A letter was sent to Michael
Dean in August 2012 in relation to keys to the building. Soccer have installed
their own locks and council do not have keys. Due to this, council do not have
access to the building and their fire people cannot access building to test fire
equipment. Michael Dean needs to hand keys into Council and get Council keys.
Michael Dean is refusing to hand keys in. The roof is to be assessed and will
probably be replaced with tin and the cladding will be repaired.
John Watson (Singleton Track & Field) advised that they have received money
to do the work that was outlined in Natasha’s report eg: fix roof and cladding at
Alroy. John felt that the money should be given back if Council is going to do the
repairs. John asked Natasha to ask Richard if Alroy will be repaired so we can
work out what to do with the funds.
Natalie King is a temporary Grants Officer.
Mark Rix feels that Singleton sports Council needs to do more. Val Scott felt that
the Sports Council Minutes should go to Council as Business Papers.
It was felt that the sports Council President should meet with the Council
General Manager or Gary Thomson.
Richard contacted Luke Knight of Junior Cricket.
Spraying and fertilizing of the sports fields has been completed. Second
treatment to be done on onion weed.
General Business:Junior Cricket:- Luke asked if Council has their buildings sprayed for pests. He
sprayed about 4 months ago yet they are still having major problems with ants.
Had a conversation with Richard. Richard not happy with the discussion that
took place at Sports Council Meeting in September.
No confirmation has been received from AFL.
AFL have moved 95% of their stuff. Cricket is very frustrated. Luke advised he is
looking at walking away and giving up. Luke told Richard enough is enough. Feel
the building should be shared 6 and 6.
Richard feels Sports Council should be saying to Council what we want.
Asked if Richard knew of any grants to replace synthetic wickets as they are
unsafe. Natasha advised that Simon Morris is looking into the matter. Luke has
researched a supplier and would like them to be given the chance to quote on 2
wickets (Cook and Civic) and has 3 samples. Simon agrees that Civic needs to be
replaced. Cricket would like to see synthetic be put on the Albion Park pitch.
Val Scott:- Asked Senior Soccer why the matter in relation to the water account
is going to Council. Senior soccer did not know why.
Senior Soccer:- Starts trials on the 3rd November under new coach. Need a
ground to train on. Spoke to John Watson of Singleton Track and Field. Going to
use Alroy Oval as they can’t use Howe Park. Have 5 players from outside the
Singleton area. Still chasing players. Holding the AGM in November. New gates
are in but there is wooden posts at the sides of the gates and the wooden posts
are not concreted in. Soccer offered to pay for gates 3 years ago. Using students
to do some concrete work in November. Doing a slab in front of the canteen.
Tutt Bryant is going to provide the gear.
Singleton Track and Field:- Are busy planning Zone Carnival. Will be held on
the 16/17th November. Liaising with Soccer for the use of Alroy. Soccer posts
are still up and need these to be removed. For Zone Carnival gear is being
borrowed from other clubs. For the Zone Carnival we are having security over
the Friday and Saturday night as tents will be left up. Using Lions Club for hot
food. Will need to get Porta-loos in due to our lack of toilet facilities. Will have
about 240 athletes attend. Spoke to Richard in relation to the slasher cutting
some of the soft fall material.
Howe Park Tennis:- Every thing is going well. Our DA is still not approved and
has been in Council for 14 weeks. Our tennis coach worked in China for 5 years
and is looking at brining out Chinese children for a 4 week period and doing a
reciprocal visit.
Netball:- Currently running a Fit 5 session. It is umpire your own and no scores
are being kept.
Greg :- visited mines and businesses in relation to Movies Under the Stars.
Businesses and Mines are happy just need to be emailed with all the details.
The person he needs to see at RMS in relation to the seating at the old Rix’s
Creek rest area was not available but a person he spoke to felt that there would
be an issue with Public Liability.
Sports Star Awards Night:- need to get this organised. Need to decide if this is
going to run and book a venue. The date for 2014 is the 21st March. Mark Rix
will book venue. York Street Diggers.
