Moccasin Marks Half Way Point
For the most part, it was another great
golf day at Moccasin Run except for a
brief downpour which lasted all of 10
minutes.
But the course was in
exceptionally good shape and the greens
were the best so far this year. It may
have been the course or just the fact that
we’re mid-season, but another 25% of
the Linksturs posted their best round of
the year so far at Moccasin. Although,
one or two of us also posted their worst
round to date.
to the clubhouse 30 to 40 minutes before
the group in back of them. Everyone
needs to keep on the tails of the group in
front of them. If you can’t see the
foursome you’re playing behind,
YOU’RE the problem. You should do
everything you can to speed things up.
Good balance is the key to any good golf shot
If you look real hard, there’s a Linkstur’s golf ball
just to the left of the Indian…and it’s in play!
Slow Play Continues
We’ve actually been doing relatively
well this year as far as the pace of play is
concerned, but there’s definitely room to
do better. Just the fact that we’re half
way through the season before I’m even
mentioning it shows that we’ve been
better than years past. But some of the
early groups have been able to get back
Forget about the hood covers on the
club. As soon as you’re done, get in the
cart and go. Mark the scores down on
the next tee when someone else is teeing
off.
Wipe your clubs down while
someone is shooting. If you’re doing
this stuff at any other time, you’re
slowing your group down.
Since we’re shooting competitively,
everyone also tends to take a little longer
on the greens. If you’re not putting, you
should be getting ready to. Line up your
putt and clean your ball when someone
else is playing.
A Division Summary
B Division Summary
Bob Perks got skunked by Tom Giblin
on the front nine, winning only one hole
to Tom’s 6. It was a lot closer on the
back. Tied going into the 18th, both Tom
and Bob pared the hole, but thanks to a
stroke, Bob was able to salvage a point.
Tom takes over 1st place in the division.
Roman and Al had a wild match with
everything from pars to 10’s. When it
was all over, they both walked away
with 1 ½ points each.
Tom D. let Bob Welc turn in a card due
to some ‘problems’ Bob claims to be
having. Bob was able to win the front,
but fell apart on the back. Tom came up
one hole shy of tying the match. Bob
takes 2.
Nick knew he was going to have a long
day when Dave Brechemin started off by
birdying the first hole. He lost the front
by 2. But Dave ran out of steam (and
patience) on the back and shot a 51
allowing Nick to come back and win the
back by 2. They split the day.
Vince Jung and Tim McArdle had no
blood drawn in their match until the 5th
hole, when Vince won 3 in a row. It was
back and forth on the back where they
finally battled to a draw. Vince takes 2
½.
A resurgent Mike Alexander took
advantage of an off day by Tony to win
the front big. Tony manages a tie for the
back and salvages ½ point. Mike’s still
in last place in the division, but only 5
games out of 1st place.
Chris held his own against Justin’s 4
pars and a birdie on the front and fought
to a draw. One down going into the 18th,
Chris needed to win the hole to split the
match but another timely par by Justin
closed out the match. Justin wins 2 ½
and is tied for 2nd place.
Pat had Ken 2 down with 3 to go on the
front but Ken was able to fight his way
back for a tie by winning the last 2 holes.
They were tied on the back after 6 and
tied every hole to the house to split the
match.
John Fricker had the only sweep in the B
division by shooting his stroke average
on the nose against a faltering Mike
Brychcy (who needs a new set of clubs).
Mike shoots the highest round of his
year at Moccasin with a pair of 64’s.
Vince Caligiuri seems to be finding his
game and especially his drive again. He
won the first 5 out of 6 holes against
Mike Fuller and takes the front by 3
holes. Mike wouldn’t go away on the
back nine and was actually 1 hole up
with one to go. Vince was forced to par
the 18th in order to split the back side
allowing Mike to only walk away with ½
point. Vince shoots his lowest round of
the year with 5 pars…more than he had
in his first 3 games combined.
Doug comes back from the nice weather
of Hawaii only to have to go out and
play on a rainy and humid Saturday.
After he matched cards against Mike
Barreto all he could come away with
was a split. Mike shoots 18 shots below
his average.
Due to his work schedule and vacation,
Kevin was not able to turn in a card
against George’s posted score. He has
until the next match to make it up.

Handicaps and Pairings
Once again there are a number of
people absent this week causing the
re-alignment of the foursomes.
1st Group
No Limp Dick
The Linksturs Interactive Message
Platform to Disseminate Information,
Communication and Knowledge has not
heard back from the following people
regarding their Limp Dick:
Tony Innamorato, Nick Tomaine, Bob
Perks, Doug Perks, Vince Caligiuri &
Al Vandetty. If you guys are having a
problem with your e-mail, you’ll need to
find out how to get it fixed or contact
someone who does get a Limp Dick.
Humor Corner
Golf can best be defined as an endless
series of tragedies obscured by the
occasional miracle, followed by a good
bottle of beer

Pat (21) vs. George (28)
Golf! You hit down to make the ball go
up. You swing left and the ball goes
right. The lowest score wins. And on
top of that, the winner buys the drinks.

you have to play your foul balls."

If you find you do not mind playing golf
in the rain, the snow, even during a
hurricane, here's a valuable tip: your life
is in trouble.
Golfers who try to make everything
perfect before taking the shot rarely
make a perfect shot.
The term "mulligan" is really a
contraction of the phrase "maul it again."
A "gimme" can best be defined as an
agreement between two golfers…
neither of whom can putt very well.
An interesting thing about golf is that no
matter how badly you play; it is always
possible to get worse.
