Here are the Meeting Minutes for 22 July, 2013 Hamilton East Public Library Noblesville - Upstairs - 1900 hours Pledge of Allegiance - Red Financial Report - Wayne Moment of Silence for those who passed before us - Ron Introductions of all Attendees/Guests/New Members – All, new member Jordan Kinkead - Welcome Sick Call - Ron Special Speaker for Tonight Is – Raymond Miller WWII Army Air Corp Pilot. Ray was born in 1922 in Ohio. He grew up in Marion, In., graduated from high school in 1940 and went to Marion College, then Purdue in 1941 until Pearl Harbor and the US came under attack. The day after he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. He went overseas in the 452nd from Feb 44 to May of 45 as a co-pilot on the B-17 bomber. He flew 22 missions. He would have been on more missions but they were hit pretty bad on one mission and he was injured and hospitalized for quite some time. Thank You Ray for your service and for speaking tonight. Old Business: July 4th Parades were very good and the turnout was great at both the Carmel and Noblesville Parades. Many thanks to those who attended and helped. Hamilton County War Mem’l Crownland Cemetery – Ron – We have been in discussion with the Cemetery about adding a light and flag pole so we will need about $1,800.00 more to do this. We will not be moving the Memorial back but there is room for about 90 more cremation lots. The stones are about on their way!! Indy Honor Flight Sept 7 - Ron – The Indy Honor Flight is always looking for volunteers and help in rising funds so we may continue to Honor Our Heroes. Our flight for our WWII & Korean War Veterans is Sept 7 as we take them to Washing DC to see their Memorials. We have medical assistance along the way and we will transport them to and from the airport. It is a long day from 6am to about 11:30pm. You can fill out the forms on the HCV website or go to their site and sign up or donate. http://www.indyhonorflight.org/. Veteran Benefit Work Shop Ron - 7 November, 2013 10 am we are still making plans to hold this event at the Fishers Public Library. Put it on your calendar as we will be disseminating a lot of Veteran info that you and your spouse will want to hear. Ramps for Our Disabled Veterans – We have an anonymous business partner who has offered to build special ramps inside and outside the homes of our disabled veterans here in Hamilton County and Madison County. If you know of any Veteran with this need, please send the contact name, phone number/email address and special need to Ron Wilson [email protected] and he will be in touch.... K9 Vests Final Report - We helped raise $3,875.00 to purchase 3 vests for Noblesville Police Dogs. There are no more tickets for the July Baseball game but we will be getting some for the Aug 30th game if anyone else is interested. See Ron Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is Dec 7, 2013 in the Noblesville City Hall at 11am. This will be again a great ceremony and we will again be presenting the Pearl Harbor drawings from the kids at Noblesville Schools and they are always awesome! Thank You. New Membership Cards – Lynn has them if you don’t have your 2013 card yet. VA Hospital Drivers Needed – Ron is now fully certified but we still need more drivers so Hamilton County will have their own Van. We would like to get 12 drivers to volunteer here in Hamilton County so we can alternate our times for driving Veterans downtown to the VA Hospital from Hamilton County. If we get the drivers needed we could have a Van here all the time to do this daily!! If you are interested please let Ron know as it takes about 90 days to get trained New Business: Defibrillators for the Noblesville Police Dept – The Masonic Lodge is trying to raise the money ($1,500.00) so our Police can have a defib. The HCV voted to donate $50.00. Bean Supper anyone? – Should we consider another bean supper this fall or next spring? We will shoot for one in the spring of 2014 so let’s be thinking about raising some funds and or acquiring the products to make the supper as good as our last one or better. Sept 28th Veterans Remembrance Day – 4pm-9pm at the American Legion Mall downtown. The Speedway Young Marines will be Honoring our Hoosier Fallen Heroes as they lift off 445 luminaries at dusk with the names of our Fallen and a prayer attached to each luminary. It will be an awesome event so tell everyone to be there, please. Good of the HCV What do we need to do to increase our Membership??? - Keep asking your buddies to become a member of the HCV.... The Fallen Hoosier Heroes Memorial for Enduring Freedom in Westfield Needs your HELP!! - You all know about the plight of this wonderful Memorial - they have outgrown their present location and need to relocate and rebuild an everlasting Memorial so our Gold Star Mothers and Families may come and reflect and remember. Please spread the word about this Memorial and their needs so that we will Never Forget!!! We are in meetings with the Governors staff, Senator Delph’s staff and the Indiana War Memorial Commission’s Gen Stewart Goodwin about getting support to make the newly designed Memorial a state Memorial. Our website is www.fallenhoosiers.com, please make a donation If you know of any students in K to 6th grade who may need eye glasses or hearing aids/ etc, please let Ron know as he will inform the Masonic Lodge who has their Angle Fund for such causes and they are looking for kids in Hamilton County who have these needs. They also have another outlet to assist the needy and kids from 7-12 grades also. *** *** Stand By Our Servicemen Please talk to every Serviceman or woman you know That are returning home: Please Tell Them Thank You and “It Takes A Warrior To Ask For Help” *** *** Please Let ALL Hamilton County Veterans Service Organizations Know We Have Them Listed On Our HCV WEB SITE & We Want Their Information/Calendar Regarding Dinners / Dances So We Can Get Them Posted ASAP. We can link to their web page or they can send their calendar [email protected] so we can put it up on our website. The only ones with web pages that have a calendar is Fishers & Carmel American Legions.
