Easier Results Review
Searching Tables of Contents (TOCs) gets a
new look—and more functionality
When you select a Table of Contents (TOC) source to search,
you’ll still see options to Search All Documents in this source or
search Table of Contents (TOC) only. Just click the radio button
for your choice and enter your search words.
If you search the TOC only, you’ll now see a Search Within Results
box. Add more search words to refine your results. Plus a new
Edit Search button returns you to the TOC so you can change
search terms.

Copying text? Now more citation formats
are handy
Select from more official citation formats for more
jurisdictions when copying text from cases, statutes and
administrative codes. Now choose from official and popular
citation formats for more than 40 states. New jurisdictional style
formats include AR, DE, IN, IA, KY, ME, MN, MS, NE, NC, OR, RI,
VA, WV and WY.
Just highlight text copy and select the arrow next to Copy
(Quick) from the option list. Then select your jurisdiction from
the format pull-down menu. Your choice stays until you change it.
Convert documents into PDFs
in Shepard’s® BriefCheck™
Shepard’s® BriefCheck™ now also supports converting input
documents into the PDF format (in addition to doc, docx, rtf, txt,
and wpd formats) for upload and analysis—no conversion needed.

Gather news from across the globe in one search. Now it’s simple.
Just select the International tab on the Explore Content pod.
To search international news, go to the Explore Content pod
on the Lexis Advance home screen. Select News. Then you can
choose International (news) by Country or International by
Region. You’re ready to search across all available international
news. Or select a specific nation. (You can also choose the
International tab at Explore Content, select a country then all
news for that nation.)
More non-U.S. sources are also available at the International
tab. News sources join international treatises, law reviews,
directories and financial & company profiles now available
via specific country pages on Explore Content. Select the
International tab, then choose your nation and source types.

due diligence
A larger pool of data matters when you need to locate an
individual or conduct due diligence fast. Now LexisNexis®
Public Records3 on Lexis Advance offers nearly 30 million
additional phone records and 73 new criminal records
sources containing approximately 4.29 million new criminal
records. The expanded phone records enhance the Cellular
& Alternate Phones section in the LexisNexis SmartLinx®
Comprehensive Person Report as well as the Cellular &
Alternate Phones Plus source found on the Public Records
menu screen. You can find the additional criminal records
sources in the Criminal Records standalone source and in the
SmartLinx® Comprehensive Person Report.

It’s changed. Now see what happens when
you click a source title …
Go ahead! Select a title (or several) for searching. Now it’s
even easier.
• Select a source title suggested in the Red Search Box and go
directly to the Advanced Search Form or Table of Contents
(if applicable) for that source to begin your search.
• Or add a suggested source to your search simply by clicking
the new magnifying glass icon to the right of the suggested
source in the Red Search Box. Repeat to add additional
sources. To remove a source, just click the magnifying glass
icon next to the title again.
Source selection using the Explore Content feature works the
same: Click a source and move directly to the Advanced Search
form or Table of Contents for that source. (You can also add
multiple sources from Explore Content to a search by checking
the box to the left of the source.)
Cover U.S. news by region—in one search
When you need to search for news across a region, now
you’re done in one search. The Explore Content pod on the Lexis
Advance home page offers five U.S. regions to choose from,
bringing your results into better focus.
Select News from the Content Type tab available on the main
Explore Content screen. Then click U.S. by Region. To see what
states are covered in a region, click the “i” icon next to a region,
e.g., next to Northwest.

Executive Orders are big news—and easy
to f ind
Quickly pinpoint key research information in Executive
Orders. To quickly locate these increasingly important
documents, start with the Red Search Box, entering: presidential
documents. Select the Presidential Documents and Executive
Orders source, which offers a variety of presidential documents,
including Executive Orders, Presidential Proclamations,
presidential memoranda, notices, determinations, etc., from the
Federal Register, some as far back as 1979.
Explore Content also now presents this source at the top of the
Federal tab. Just click the tab and select the source to begin your
search. Enter your search terms, for example, ENTER: trump and
immigration, and go.
Quickly refine statute, administrative code
and treaty searches using new segments
Segments are document parts, like the headline of a news article.
At Lexis Advance, you can search within the unique document
segments of a content type. For example, search for specific
words in the title of a treaty.
Now you can:
• Search the statute or administrative code text only,
excluding annotations and related editorial content
• Zero in on treaties affecting only specified signatories—
parties and nations of interest
Just use the TEXT segment with statutes or administrative
codes or the PARTIES segment with treaties. Both segments are
available in the Advanced Search form specific to your content
type. Advanced Search forms are available from the Red Search
Box. Just click Advanced Search. Advanced Search forms
also display automatically when you select the title in Explore
Content listings.
