EPIC Training Requirement

Look for a memo to the MS3 listserv with instructions for
signing up for EPIC classes with your UNCH domain account
Need to sign release form today so that we can get your UNCH
domain account set up
You will get an individual email with information about your
UNCH domain account
Training starts February, 2014
You will not be able to do a clinical clerkship or elective at
Chapel Hill after April 4, 2014 if you have not had training!
There is a total of 8 hours of instructor-led training in
Morrisville, NC
There are 1 to 2 hours of online modules that must be
completed before the instructor led training
Do not sign up for a date that conflicts with an OSCE, shelf
exam, exam, or dayback
4th Year Considerations

and staff writer (January-August)

Take CPX, Step 2 CK and CS

Do “audition electives”

UNC’s USMLE Step 2 CK Policy

Take Step 2 Clinical Knowledge by

Show passing score of Step 2 CK by

means your eligibility for the Match and
graduation is in jeopardy
UNC’s USMLE Step 2 CS Policy
•
We recommend that you take Step 2 CS by
November 1, 2014 (irrespective of SOM policy)!
•
SOM policy mandates that you have a test date
scheduled by February 18, 2015
•
MUST take step 2 clinical skills by the last day of
the term preceding graduation (4/24/15)
•
Will get financial aid to pay for registration

Will get time off from electives/selectives to take
exam

Science of Medicine selective, electives, outpatient
medicine, etc.
• Ideally schedule one or two month(s) for interviews
(depending on specialty)
– October – January depending on specialty (November or
December typically the best months)
• Schedule free period for “audition elective”
• Schedule time to prepare for Step 2 CK

When do you need to decide on specialty?

Can take electives/selectives in July, August and maybe
September to help with specialty choice
•
Need to decide on specialty by August 15th (early match
specialty) or September 15th for a competitive specialty
•
Ideally, you want your ERAS application submitted by
September 15th
•
May decide by as late as October 1st for some specialties (e.g.
specialties that are not too competitive or competitive
specialties that wait for Dean’s Letter release on October 1st)
