Updated Cell Organelles Campaign

Cell Organelles
Campaign
It is election season and with that in mind, you will need to run an election campaign….but not for your favorite
political figure but for your favorite organelle!!! Your group has volunteered to run a campaign to get
your assigned candidate (organelle) elected as The Most Important Organelle. You will
have to argue that without your candidate (organelle), the cell and the organism and
consequently the world as we know it will collapse.
Requirements: You must choose 1 of the following 4 options. Date Due: ___________________
Option 1: Campaign poster
 Describe how totally awesome your candidate is.
 Catchy graphic and campaign slogan (include on poster)
 Include the structure of the organelle and the function of the organelle. Be
sure to relate the structure of the organelle to its function.
 It is crucial for you to make the connection for your voter about why your
candidate is the most important.
 Tell your voter why your candidate is important for survival of the organism.
Option 2: Mudslinging
 The fun stuff.
 You need to run a smear campaign against the other candidates.
 You create a one-page flyer that includes your smear campaign against
another organelle.
 This can be submitted on Google Classroom or printed out.
 You must have a smear campaign against one of the other organelles.
 You must include graphics on your flyer.
 Think about the negatives related to the other candidate’s structure and
function.
 Example (that you may not use): Do not vote for chloroplast he is a member
of the green party and supports sugar production.
Option 3: Campaign Speech
 You will be saying your speech to show to the class.
 In your speech you need to convince the voters based on structure and
function that your candidate is the most important.
 The speech will need to be 1.5 minutes to 2 minutes.
 You can video tape the speech or give it live to the class.
 You will provide me with a transcript of the interview on Google Classroom
or print it out.
Option 4: Campaign TV Ad
 You will be recording a TV Ad in a format that can be shown in class (I-movie,
Quicktime, animoto)
 In the ad you would need to present a convincing argument for why your
organelle should be voted as the most important.



Think of what would grab an audience on TV so they don’t turn the channel.
The ad should also present some mudslinging against another organelle
You can video your commercial or you can use a site like animoto. (see me if
you want to use animoto for a student account)
The Competition!!!!!
 Each class will vote on our voting day to determine which organelle ran the best
campaign with their 2 project options.
 The group with the most votes per class will get to state their case to the team
teachers during our team meeting.
 The team teachers will vote and the winner overall will get a pizza party with the team.
Above and Beyond (Extra Credit) Due Date: ___________________
o You can choose to another option as extra credit. You can come up with other ideas
and have them approved by
me as well. Be creative!!
