GFR"s RIT TEAM takes first place

Gainesville Fire Rescue's (GFR) Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) competed among
other Fire Departments in the Southeastern United States to see who could resue a
downed firefighter the safest and fastest. The RIT team goes through a maze of
obsticals to find their fallen comrad, give them air and then drag them to safety.
This feat is done by wearing their entire personal protective equipment, having their
masks lined with wax paper to remove visibility and breathing bottled air. GFR
holds top honors honors as the best team and will be eligible to compete amongst
the best in the nation. GFR had two additional teams that performed great and
