Effective immediately, the Ribo-Zero™ rRNA Removal Solution (Plant Leaf) and the Ribo-Zero™
rRNA Removal Solution (Plant Seed/Root) component of the kits listed above now contain
probes for removal of the 5S cytoplasmic and 5S mitochondrial rRNA.
With addition of the new probes, the Ribo-Zero™ rRNA Removal Solution (Plant Leaf) and the
Ribo-Zero™ rRNA Removal Solution (Plant Seed/Root) will remove the following rRNAs from
plant leaf and plant seed/root total RNA samples:
Cytoplasmic (nuclear-encoded) rRNA: 25S, 18S, 5.8S, 5S
Mitochondrial rRNA: 18S, 5S
Chloroplast rRNA: 23S, 16S, 5S, 4.5S
The Epicentre web page and product protocols for these two kits now include a notice about
the addition of the 5S cytoplasmic and 5S mitochondrial probes. In addition, Epicentre will
include notice of the probe additions with a label on the Ribo-Zero rRNA Removal Reagents box
that is shipped with each kit. We will also directly notify major customers of the probe
additions.
