Gold Miners JOAD, a program for youth archers in Ashland,
Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, and Stafford, Virginia, is starting
the 2017 Outdoor season practice schedule. JOAD (Junior
Olympic Archery Program) is a USA Archery Program for
archers from 8 to 20 years of age interested in the sport of
competitive archery. Gold Miners JOAD holds their Outdoor
practices at the Manahoac Bowmen Range on Wednesday
evenings from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Practice is being extended to
2 hours to give members and parents both more flexibility in
case of schedule conflicts and more practice time for those
able to stay for the full two hours. The specific 2017 practice
schedule is given on the next page.

Gold Miners 2017 Summer Schedule
Practice will start on Wednesday 14 June at 5:00 pm and run every week through 26 July.
Practice during this period will concentrate on learning the ability to shoot the distances that
are shot at Target Archery outdoor tournaments and at World Archery Field tournaments.
Scheduled tournaments during the summer, 2017 are:
 3 June, Summer Siesta; The Archery Program, Bull Run, Centreville, VA
 17 June, Summer Kickoff; Chesterfield Golden Arrow archers, Midlothian, VA
 8 July, Bull run Summer Shoot, The Archery Program, Bull Run, Centreville, VA
 21-23 July, The Commonwealth Games, Liberty Univ., Lynchburg, VA
 2 – 6 July, USA Archery & JOAD National Championships, Westfield, IN
No practice on the 2ND of August for the USA Archery National and JOAD Target Archery
Championship. Practice resumes on 9 August and runs through 13 September.
Practice will continue, taking advantage of lessons learned at earlier summer tournaments.
Concentration will be on the skills needed for the upcoming Virginia State Championship
tournaments in August. Tournaments in August are:
 3 – 6 August, National ‘State Games’, Grand Rapids, MI
 12 August, Virginia State World Archery Field Championship, Spotsylvania, VA
 26 August, Virginia State Target Archery Adult Championship, Centreville, VA
 27 August, Virginia State Target Archery JOAD Championship, Centreville, VA
Practice after the State Championships will concentrate on lessons learned and looking forward
to the next Indoor season – and maybe some fun.
