Client: Scottish Football Association Position: Head Coach - National Women’s ‘A’ Squad Location: Oriam Performance Centre – Edinburgh Reporting to: SFA Performance Director Background The Scottish FA exists to promote, foster and develop the game at all levels in this country. Founded in 1873, Scottish football’s governing body has recently undergone the most radical changes in its history, enabling the organisation to lead the game into a new era. The Scottish FA now wish to appoint a Head Coach for the Women’s A Squad. This is an exciting time for women’s football with Scottish teams enjoying domestic and international success. Responsibilities To prepare, develop, select and coach players for the Women’s ‘A’ squad in accordance with the Performance Strategy and as directed by the Performance Director. To work with key internal personnel including the assigned Team Manager, the Performance Operations Manager, Head of Football Science and Medicine and the Head of Scouting and Analysis to ensure that the highest level of service is available to the Women’s ‘A’ Squad and that all policies and procedures are complied with in full. To lead the coaching provision service at any given event which will include an Assistant Coach, a Goalkeeping Coach and a Performance Analyst for the duration of any given ‘A’ squad event. To work with the medical lead (i.e. Team Doctor) for the duration of any event. To plan coaching sessions and to lead these during any event under the direction of the Performance Director. To deliver team tactics and direction/guidance to players throughout the duration of any given event. To work with the assigned Team Manager and Performance Operations Manager to ensure that all competition regulations are complied with at any given event including the eligibility of any player for any given match. This will include the status of any player with regard to disciplinary and suspension status. To line manage the Scottish FA’s Women’s and Girls’ representative coaches and to manage the deployment of all coaches in the Women’s and Girls’ representative age groups. To coach other representative teams as directed by the Performance Director. To conduct a review of the ‘Future Team Growing’ initiatives (the National and Regional Performance Centre Network) and to make recommendations to the Performance Director as appropriate. Thereafter to manage, with the support of the Head of Girls’ and Women’s Football and in accordance with all relevant procedures, the relevant programmes ensuring a pipeline of talent is regularly available for the National ‘A’ Squad. This will include the management of the casual personnel assigned to work in the National & Regional Centres. To support the Head of Girls’ and Women’s Football with initiatives aimed at raising the standards at club level, and the profile of Women’s football in general, and to assist in the delivery of any and all strategic aims. To support the Head of Girls’ and Women’s Football in delivering specific coach education programmes within the Women’s game as directed by the Performance Director. To represent the Scottish FA on relevant Panels, Working Groups and Boards as directed by the Performance Director both in Scotland and abroad. To undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time by the Performance Director. Knowledge & Experience Essential Experience of being a Head Coach and leading a senior/elite football team to success. Desirable Playing experience in the senior women’s game at international level. Qualifications & Training Essential A UEFA ‘A’ Licence holder. Desirable A UEFA Pro Licence holder. Skills Essential Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to present engaging presentations. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess problems and create effective solutions. Use of analysis packages such as, Wyscout, Sportscode, NAC sport. Desirable Creative and innovative approach to problem solving. Purposeful and forward thinking.
